    State of the union

Gerrard -I would have taken him off against Norwich sooner rather than later. Thought he had no energy and looked very slow. Do you think he will ever be the player we had in 2006 or come even close? I think he has one last afterburn - maybe a good run in the spring and then it's over. He will probably get injured again. Cant believe how slow he looks.

Carroll - how can we make a mistake that big?!
Suarez - and at the same time make such a great deal on him? Do we have two different scouts. One with a heavy alcohol problem and another one overseas who is just ****ing ace? How could Dalglish accept the Carroll deal? Was it his doing or what happend?

Downing - just strange he doesnt offer more. I still believe.

Charlie - Strange how he seems to offer more than I actually manage to registrer during a game. Stats are awesome.

Jose and Johnson looks like the backs we have been asking for for ages. Nice. Now they just have to deliver the goods!

Lucas - still doesnt do it for me. I could be wrong. I keep thinking about Alonso when I see him in there :/

Henderson - jury is still out but less than impressive for sure?

Agger - always something broken. Should play in France where they dont tackle. Holland maybe.

Pepe is Pepe and Kuyt is Kuyt.

    Carra - OTT, right?

Skertel - poor mans Richards or whatever...?

Other than that I hope you are all doing good. I have been "blessed" with 3 kids in 3 years so thats why I have been under the radar for so long. I have no idea if the old timers are still here - If you are then

    All the best!

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.

well, lets be honest he's never going to be the unstoppable gerrard at his peak - but he will still have plenty too offer, he is still a genuine top class player - but we can no longer rely on him to do it week in/week out and carry us for whole seasons - we need to manage him properly and have a good enough squad so we can use him when needed and not rely on him.....Also, get the euro's out the way and retire from international football - he won't be giving us 60 games a season - but for 30 games a season great - yeah he looked a bit ****ed but it's going to take a few games to get up to fitness, and also a decent midfielder alongside with pace/passion/fight - not charlie adam

Carroll - how can we make a mistake that big?!

needs time and a run of games, but we don't look like we can afford to give it him - really lookng a dreaful purchase for £35m which what i believe most peoples concerns are....if we'd paid a more realistic £15m to £20m i don't think people would be jumping on his back as much - suarez class, only genuine class out there at times - needs a parnter to start scoring some goals and take the burden/expectation of him a bit - maybe also needs gerrard to 'talk' him through games at times when he looks like losing it

Downing - just strange he doesnt offer more. I still believe.

frustrating - sometimes i think 'hello' - he'll get at someone, go past them, deliver a ball or have a shot - but then just hides, i think he's struggling a bit with the pressure at being at a proper big club and he's head goes - if we kept him left mid though, it would help

Charlie - Strange how he seems to offer more than I actually manage to registrer during a game. Stats are awesome.

meh - decent enough squad player - but for the first 11 we need something more than him, not great in a centre mid two, but we didn't break the bank for him either

Jose and Johnson looks like the backs we have been asking for for ages. Nice. Now they just have to deliver the goods!

yup enrique arguably our most consistent player this season - confident, strong, gets forward, quick, looks to play the ball

Lucas - still doesnt do it for me. I could be wrong. I keep thinking about Alonso when I see him in there :/

i can't get my head around lucas - he's not ****, but he's not amazing - he's just lucas - much prefer him to charlie adam though

Henderson - jury is still out but less than impressive for sure?

young and a big price tag, plus being played right mid where he doesn't look comfortable at all hasn't helped him - still i reckon if we manage him well he can come through

Agger - always something broken. Should play in France where they dont tackle. Holland maybe.

yeah massive question marks over agger - if we can't get him fit we really need to look at getting a replacement, and possibly another centre half for first choice to replace carra as he gets on and skrtel

Pepe is Pepe and Kuyt is Kuyt.

      Carra - OTT, right?

Skertel - poor mans Richards or whatever...?

carra and skrtel (and agger) the whole centre back needs a real good look at....

carra is a legend, no doubt about it, but he's coming to the end of his career, and he loves a hoof - still has plenty too offer with experience, passion etc, but is fast losing starting XI status - skrtel has his moments, and then has his wobbles and doesn't for me , look commanding enough to be the main man - agger has his issues, and maybe too soon for coates? - so questions need to be asked and answered by the managment...

      for me we should have/want

a new top class centre half first choice
a fit agger or if that doesn't happen, a similar type replacement
and then carragher(experienced) and coates(up and coming) as the cover

Other than that I hope you are all doing good. I have been "blessed" with 3 kids in 3 years so thats why I have been under the radar for so long. I have no idea if the old timers are still here - If you are then

Not sure what you two expect from Lucas, he is nothing like Alonso so that comparison is just odd and he does an excellent job holding the midfield.

With Downing, he looks exactly like he has at every other club.

Gerrard is never going to be where he once was, he's older now and injuries have taken their toll somewhat, I think we should be looking at moving him back into a deeper role and not building the team around him anymore.

Carroll I think just needs games and to know his role in the team, the price tag is the main cause of the large expectation and disappointment at what he's delivered so far, his record this season amounts to one goal in 5.5 games, if he'd got another that record wouldn't look too bad.

Downing like Carroll I think needs time to settle and an understanding of what his role is and what is expected of him, when the forward line changes (which it seems to quite often) what we need him to do also changes so again I think he would benefit from a settled team.

Adam I have to say I'm not convinced by. I don't think he suits the system we play, I don't think he does as much defensively as he should, and I don't think what he offers going forward makes up for it. His goals record at Blackpool looked so good because he took alot of freekicks and penalties, if you limit those opportunities as is happening here I think his record will be average.

Enrique looks a great player he is the left back we've needed for years

Johnson always seems to get some stick for his defending but I think he's decent enough. The problem with attacking fullbacks is that they will get caught out from time to time, this is something you just have to accept if you want to play that way, but I think that the effects could be minimized by having more mobile centre backs.

Lucas is a decent player solid and quietly effective, the one problem people seem to have with him is that he doesn't seem to fit into one catagory or another, he's not a Mascherano or Hamann type holding player and he's not an Alonso type defensive midfielder, he's hard working and IMO works best with someone similar along side him like Spearing last season, he needs another hardworking player along side him and I don't think that is Adam's strength.

Henderson I see as one for the future although at the moment I still don't know what type of player he will develop into. I don't think he's suited to the right side of midfield though.

Agger is a great player, but too injury prone

Skrtel is decent enough he can have good games and bad games, my problem with him is that I always feel he has a silly mistake in him.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Carroll - let's be honest. We all knew what we were getting . . . A target man who will give options. Not a prolific scorer and never will be. But we are now going to have to pay chelsea and city inflated prices due to the owners willingness to spend.

Suarez - everything his stats show he would be. Great buy and will get better working with Kenny.

Lucas - what a difference a day make or in this case a couple of years. We look lost in midfield without him. He isnt a destroyer in a defensive way and isn't a Gerard going forward but he does a job that no one else seems to be able.

Henderson - bought for the future on same inflated reason as Carroll deal. Looks decent enough and working with Gerard will improve him greatly.

Johnson and Enrique - keep these boys fit and we'll be laughing. Attacking wise they give us so much. Defensively Enrique is boss.

Agger - stays fit then surely first choice. Can't stay fit then sell him. We need a settled back 4 as much as possible.

Gerard - he looked fuked at weekend which was expected. Once he gets match sharpness back he will be superb for us in what will hopefully be a more withdrawn role for us. I think he could be the link between the forwards and the defense without having to be the all action man he was.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.
