Lucas Leiva returns to the Liverpool line-up as Kenny Dalglish makes eight changes for tonight's Carling Cup encounter at Stoke City - but Steven Gerrard is not involved. Listen live from 7.40pm.

The Brazilian comes in alongside Jay Spearing, Sebastian Coates, Daniel Agger, Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Maxi Rodriguez and Martin Kelly.

Fabio Aurelio is on the bench.

foggy has asked me to send him updates while he's at a beer festival, but i'm not going to.

If we go for a conventional 4-4-2 i fear with Henderson and Maxi on the wings and Lucas and Spearing in the middle we'll get little creativity and i fear our midfield four will be bullied.

A 4-3-3 may work better, with Lucas, Spearing and Henderson battling in the middle with Suarez, Carroll and Maxi up top.

Yeah I would say so mate.

A few people mentioned 3-5-2 but I can't see Maxi playing LWB.

Also I think the plan is to play Carragher in every game until his legs fall off.

Agger at left back is ridiculous. Our best centreback playing in a position where he's completely uncomfortable.

Also I don't like the idea of Agger at LB

I can see it being more of a 3 with Kelly pushing on and Henderson tucking in

As much as Agger at LB seems like a **** idea, makes sense to have as much height/aerial ability in the team as possible
