Nice finish but he was actually lucky.

His first touch was far too long and better positioned goalkeeper would have blocked his shot.

Carroll's first touch for the goal was poor. Delighted that he scored but if he was surrounded by better defenders, I bet that wouldn't have gone in. Anyway, funny to hear the commentary panel saying that Hodgson's should be scratching his head after that first half. They've never really dissected his tactics or his behaviour during games it seems.

Downing and Adam especially had poor game imo so far.

Downing yes, but Adam has been good. Hit a couple of lovely long balls and another that nearly got Downing in. A nice tackle in our half too. Plus cooly taken penalty. I'd back him over Luis everyday for pens.

The Talksport commentators reckon Lucas and Adam are dominating central midfield. I don't understand how we can be winning by two when so many of our players are playing so badly. Just lucky I guess.

Carroll's a great finisher, I think stats will back it up. His conversion rate is excellent. When he gets a chance, he usually doesn't waste it.

He had at least 3 incredible chances against Stoke (also one vs WBA too) and he missed them all.

Excellent so far, its great to watch this new team getting better and better, shame some expect us to be Barcelona just because we spent a few quid though.

It's not been awful but we should have done better. Some of our passing have been sloppy. It's testament to Hodgson's ineptitude that we're easily winning this game. Against a better team, I'm not sure it would have been the same.
