Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Comparing the two as wingers is unfair on Henderson. All this does is highlight that we're falling short of a natural right sided midfielder when compared to Spurs's balanced midfield.
I agree that as a unit their midfield is better than ours at the moment
Sorry.
But I find it natural since Henderson is most likely going to spend this season mainly on the right, like he did for Sunderland. It may be unfair but I still don't think there is much between them.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

As for winning more than 3 on the spin - luckily, the league criteria is more about total points, than 'wins on the spin'.
Spurs have taken 17 points from their last 19. We need to go on some kind of run this season to compete.
I admire your optimism Craig but I think you are blind. We are very ordinary at the moment.

We've taken three out of our last three. Six out of six if you include the Carling Cup, which I do.

Spurs have much more pace than us in the team. They build their team around pace and skill. We don't.
It is difficult to compare Lucas and Parker. Lucas play as an out and out defensive midfielder for us because he must do it as long as Adam is the other central midfielder. Parker play as a box to box midfielder.
Lucas is much better defensively but we don't know how good he would be if he played in the same position as Parker.
Lucas is for example the best tackler in the league. If you are up against him then you will almost always come out second best.
If you want to win the league then it is pace and skill that you must build the team around. One touch football and quick clever players.
We must get more pace and skill into our starting XI or else more of what happened against Spurs will happen again.
Downing isn't what we need for example. We need a Silva or Mata in that position. Henderson isn't what we need on the right. We again need a Silva or Mata in that position.
That is how the best teams in the world build their teams. Look at Bayern, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man C, Man U and so on.
Pace and skill. If you don't have enough of that then you don't stand a chance.Stop the cyberhate

Adam 4/10 - Poor from Adam. Apart from his set pieces he really does contribute next to nothing in open play. He spent most of the game either strolling around the pitch waiting for the ball to be passed to him or giving away possession with stupid long range passes. I would have given him 3/10 but for the penalty.

Adam 5/10 - Defensive weaknesses are so evident that any other team would take advantage of that. His passing was also poor as many times he apologized to his teammats for wrong pass.

I've been quite surprised that Adam's performance has been rated so highly by some people, even going as far as naming him MOTM. The defensive part of his game was pretty shocking.

Adam is **** defensively in a 4-4-2. He simply shouldn't play at all in that system. Play him in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 and it won't be a problem.
Spearing instead of Adam in a 4-2-2.
You don't get the best out of Adam by playing him in a 4-4-2.Stop the cyberhate

If Kenny will continue to play 4-4-2 then we don't need Adam. Then we need another type of midfielder. A more mobile one.
Parker is for example miles better than Adam in that position. That is the type of player we need in a 4-4-2.
I do hope that Kenny sort that out in January. We need a better box to box midfielder to play together with Lucas.Stop the cyberhate

We are not going to buy a replacement for Adam in january IMO. Although I'd like see someone a step above him come in.Originally posted by Arn View PostIf Kenny will continue to play 4-4-2 then we don't need Adam. Then we need another type of midfielder. A more mobile one.

**** you're right, it's actually 19 out of 21. And you think we are fine bumbling along our way?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostNo they havent.

The extraordinary 'chances' you are talking about were against the likes of sunderland, norwich and west brom (2 of which we drew through failure to convert those chances). We didn't create much against united and we rarely create easy unmissable opportunites through great team play. It's generally individuals such as Suarez who then misses 80% of the time.
We lack true guile and any real quality (except suarez until it's time to shoot).
I know you like a long drawn out pedantic exchange so i am going to leave this now. We will see end of season how we fare.Last edited by BG1973; 31-10-11, 05:51 PM.

That's a fair point.Originally posted by little dave hedgehog View Postbut neil, for our last 3 matches, the maximum points total comes to 3 cubed, or 333. 6 points out of a total of 333 is relegation form. quit changing the numbers to suit your argument.
However, we've won 6 points while playing 4-4-2. 6x442/333 = 7.96
I'm happy with a return of nearly 8 points per game.
Of course it would be much more if Adam wasn't so fat and slow and if Downing wasn't worse than a Liam Fox justification but Dalglish must be playing for them a reason even if he is simply too cowardly to drop them..

I gave him 5 cause we did win after all but I voiced my concerns (even created a video) about his defensive shortcomings.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostI've been quite surprised that Adam's performance has been rated so highly by some people, even going as far as naming him MOTM.
