Top class players that make a real difference.

Man C, Chelsea and Man U will continue to sign that type of players and pay the money needed to get the player. If we don't then we will be left behind. We must make sure that we are a top four club every season.
I'm not sure that is realistic expectation especially for Hazard, who seems very likely to go to Real M. (Goetze may be tempted as Borussia will probably sell him in summer) but I'd really like to see us going after genuine quality players and imo that is the missing piece of our new project.

We have decent blend of youth and experience but imo we need more top notch players and getting at least one (earlier the better) would really help our chances this year.

Some players will turn us down and some will sign IMO. If every top class player turn us down then Comolli and Kenny isn't doing that great job convincing them.

Then we must get another manager and director of football in that can convince them to sign because it is the key point for success.

If we can't convince them that we are the right club then it is bye bye top four.
The struggle to convince them can very conceivably be BECAUSE we havent been finishing in the top four. Chicken and egg.

I'm sure we didn't. We might have put feelers out. Called his advisors and mistakenly left caller ID turned on and go no answer or such like. I think formal bids really cone into play when a club believe the player would come. And when they actually want to buy the player of course, which is also guesswork.

Didnt create much against United??? Did you actually watch the game?

Suarez in on De Gea first half, Stevie's goal, Henderson's easy header, Kuyt's volley from Downing's cross. On another day, we'd score 4 goals. Didnt create much?

You sound like you actually want us to **** up our season so you can 'tell me so'

We've yet to gel/settle and we're averaging 1.8 pts per game or 68.4 pts across a season.

In the last 10 seasons, the following points totals would've got 4th place:

            69
            68
            64
            66
            61
            66
            59
            57
            65
            67

So we're hardly miles off. You can post the usual drivel about how i "like a long drawn out pedantic exchange" but the fact is i'm pulling you up on something using stats and facts to back up my points. What are you using to back yours up, other than your own doom and gloom?

Christ, if this is what you're like now, god knows how you survived the Hodgson tenure!

We will see Craig, you can call it doom and gloom, I call it perception. I think we are papering over cracks right now.

of course I hope it picks up but i'll say it again, there is no real quality in our side except the obvious one. Getting on for £100 million spent since January and i think that is a massive worry and it depresses the hell out of me.

I can see that point of view, but i dont necessarily think you really need that much 'real quality' to beat the majority of sides in this league. **** it, even Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd cant defend for toffee, when you put them under pressure, as we've seen already.

I'd be keen to get a viewpoint from you re the points tallies required for top 4, and our current average/ratio, as you seem to have skirted right over that.

I accept this, but there are more top players out there than the top few clubs in England/Italy/Spain can accommodate. Just a matter of identifying them (in preference to the spurs approach of making offers for everyone in the August edition of 4-4-2 magazine)

You should take up sportswriting for one of the daily rags, as I see you are conveniently forgetting how much players were sold for during the same period

We didn't even put the bid in and his transfer fee + wages was something we could have afforded.

He would have been amazing signing for us.

Fair point, especially when the just loan them out to a selection of sides.

We won the CL as a "one man team" - gerrard.
We won the FA cup as a "one man team" - gerrard again.
We had a handful of consecutive top 4 finishes as a one man team - gerrard then Torres.
Now we are a one man team with suarez. . . . . Bull****. He is a great player but he isn't the be all and end all. Agger, reina, gerard, Enrique, kyut to name a few are equally as important. To lose Suarez would be hurtful to us no doubt but no more so than united losing Rooney, City losing aguero, arsenal losing RVP - people on here (as craig pointed out) moaning and whinging, trying hard to pick holes and find nothing but the negatives is ****ing boring!

                            It is simply a must.

I think that we tried to sign Mata but I don't think he was that impressed by Kenny and to be fair it is understandable. Kenny must build up his reputation again. He must show that he can and will deliver.

The top class players won't take any notice of what kind of results Kenny did 25 years ago. They will see a manager that is a big gamble and isn't proven at all at the moment. They will look at him and ask themselves if he is good enough to get the best out me? That sort of questions.

I think part of it is that he's so good, that some of the others are feeling like they can shed some of the attacking responsibility - which isnt the right attitude, if we're being honest. But if Suarez DID have to miss some games, people would step upto the plate, perhaps not individually and to the extent he does, but collectively.

It's almost as if some of the players are in a 'give it to Suarez, he will score' mentality.

I honestly dont know why you bothered putting in all that time and effort when you could've just typed "we need rafa back".

                                Would've been much easier.
