We were in for Young but he understandably went to United.

I agree that our signings haven't pulled up trees, but when you're not in the CL or competing for the title then the likes of Downing will be the best we can attract.

Which is depressing.

Our biggest problem. Lucas and Adam are not good enough as a centre midfield partnership in a 4-4-2 system.

Rubbish. Lucky to get away with a point. This squad is not good enough. Home draws with Sunderland, Norwich and Swansea. Kenny's bought a lot of ****. Downing is an utter waste of space. No goals or assists and he completely bottles out of crossing the ball because it turns out he is not very good at it. How many times down the left does he pass the buck to the excellent Enrique. The less said about Henderson the better. Young player and all that but the lack of forward thinking from the lad is worrying. Andy missed an absolute sitter in the first half that cost us. That goes in, we win the game. Can't afford to miss those. Lucas and Adam too immobile a midfield. When the ball inevitably gets launched to Carroll there is no-one following up his knock downs. John Henry was in the crowd. He expects 4th which, barring a massive turn in fortunes, is not going to happen. Hope he is willing to spend some cash. Based on what we've bought, would he trust Kenny with the cash though...

who 7 times out of 10 gives the ball away, gives away stupid fouls and cant run, cant defend or cant track back. The charlie adam that leaves all the dirty work to lucas, looks for all the glory and let players literally walk past him.
