Drop Downing and Henderson and Use Maxi and Bellamy instead.Infact **** Adam off as well and play Spearo instead.

£40m Downing and Henderson cost and they are not delivering at all.

How Bellamy isn't starter baffles me.
    That's the point for me.

We played some great stuff under Kenny last season. The difference between then and now is obvious,Kenny's signings are playing now and keeping players who performed very well then out of the team.

Its obvious that Henderson and Downing in no way warrant a starting place and should be dropped.Adam, aslthough I thought he was ok today, should be out too once Gerrard is fit.I highly doubt that they will be though.

One of the supposed plus points of buying these lads was they wouldnt need time to settle so if they've settled straight away then clearly they are lacking the talent required for this club.

20 +13 million quid . I'd be happy to give hendo more time cos he's young but Downing has no excuses,he's at the age where he should be reaching his peak, perhaps his peak is just average which is certainly how it seems.Maxi to play when bellers can't.

And that's without talking about Andy Carroll.

And Downing may well be playing poorly, but even today he put a goal on a plate for Carroll 6 yards out but he ****ed it.

Remind me,how much did Berbatov and Carrick cost Manu?
he at least scored a fair few goals

He had some really good runs in the first half but we just didn't have enough bodies in the box to convert those crosses.

Yes he disappeared after that but imo the midfield needs to have him involved more and more cause he has tendencies "to come and go" as the match is progressing.
EDIT:We share similiar opinions but for me, all the if's, but's, maybes etc have to be running a wee bit thin, it's results and performances that matter. I know he has been unlucky, missed chances by forwards, last ditch tackles by opposition defenders, hitting posts etc but he is massively undeperforming, for me it's glaring & with results like this today we genuinely cannot afford any passengers & Downing IMO has been a passenger.

I just don't think he should be a starter at the moment, i've been saying for awhile now i think himself and Hendo shoul dbe used as impact players to boost their confidence. Not saying either won't make it but at the moment they aren't doing us or themselves any favours. IMO at the moment, starting Downing or Henderson makes our team weaker, than say starting bellamy or Maxi.

Any professional striker should expect to put that chance away. Downing created an almost certain goal. You can't dismiss that so easily. Overall poor, but I think he's one of those players that will play at the level of the rest of the team, rather than dragging it up to a higher standard. If he played for Utd or Man City at the moment, he'd hold his own imo.

Fair point about the striker. But the comment about Downing holding his own for Utd and City i think is disagree with. He wouldn't get near their starting line up IMO.

For me it's not about ability with Downing, it's his mentality. By no means writing him off but he has to improve, just as we as a team have to improve.

Downing is a player that deliver when the team play an easy tactic, a long ball tactic, like Villa and Boro did.

He don't have the game intelligence to play in a pass and move team. You can clearly see that when he time after time end up in the same position as Enrique.

He never played in a team that played pass and move football. That is why it was a mistake signing him.

He need to learn to play in a completely different way. The pass and move way.

That will take time, time we don't have. Maxi is used playing pass and move football. That is why he fit our system much better.

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

Agreed it was a shocking miss.If Carroll had burst the net maybe this would be a happy place tonight and Downing may have been buoyed by his first assist and gone on to have a stormer. But he didn't and here we are.

the lad has offered no where near enough in his 11 games so far to justify his place or indeed his signing.

Boro weren't a long ball team.

We seem to keep saying this, with some regularity. Unfortunately 'ifs' dont really mean anything.

When we play poorly, we regularly dont win. When the mancs play poorly, they regularly somehow win.

It's not luck or coincidence that this happens. They play percentages far far far far more intelligently than we do. As a football team, we're absolute thickos.

We can keep playing the 'if' card but ultimately, if we keep doing that and failing to realise that we DIDNT score the early goal and it is our fault & something we're doing wrong for this to keep happening, we wont be playing CL football anytime soon.

Besides getting rid of the dross out Squad isnt much better than last season.

Another season starting with expectation and hope going up in smoke, FFS.
Shipped out the old dross, brought in the new, far more expensive dross.
