    Thought this might be worth more discussion after seeing it in the Skrtel thread.

    I think the stats on the offal for the players is very interesting, not necessarily how people are preforming but the parameters by which they are measured. Is this the philosophy of Comoli or FSG?

    All positions are measured against the same metrics, General, Defence, Distribution, Attack, Discipline with subsections relevant to each position in each.

    The most intersesting of all of this for me is the Distibution and midfield & forward combinations. There are no stats for assists, but rather stats for shot assists.

    I would have thought in the main a shot assist was the same as an assist?

    Even a header can be counted as a shot cant it?

      Surely an assist is only counted if a goal is scored whereas a shot assist takes account of all the times the shooter fails to score.

      So if I keep on providing you with open goals and you keep missing them, my 'shot assist' rate doesn't suffer because of the fact you're Emile Heskey.

      Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

            In my defence though I was totally bladdered at the time.

                Minutes per shot assist.

                1. Bellamy (110/7) 15
                2. Suarez (395/22) 18
                3. Downing (451/24) 19
                4. Adam (574/25) 23
                5. Kuyt (346/12) 29

                Out of interest Henderson is 44 minutes per shot assist.

                Downing has been very unlucky with real assists, the shot assist stats put a better spin on it.

                I wonder how forensic shot assist is? Does a pass and a shot from 40 yards count?

                  It is hard to say because it isn't given context. The assist could easily be a very difficult shot to take.
