Then FSG will consider all the options like they did last year with Hodgson. They tried to get Villas Boas and Klopp if you believe reports and leaks, but they couldn't. So they changed to going for an interim. Hence they went with Kenny because of his qualities.

They'll do things carefully and methodically. However, with Kenny and Rafa, there's a ton of nostalgia and not enough rational thinking with us as fans.

Utter rubbish, you can't even compare the two, or at least you shouldn't. Rafa is the epitome of a modern manager, he is a modern day manager.

I think he and Comolli are to be blamed equally. One of picking the wrong player and another one for scouting ****e as much.

It is inconcieivable to think that decisions on who to buy were made in any isolation.

I remember Comolli saying that any discussion on players start with what type of player (striker, AM, etc.) manager wants first and then the scouting is done and then manager and Comolli would meet and agree on a player.

Now Kenny's having a bit of a mare, fans are now calling for Rafa.

It's like having mini-Abramovich's all over the place.
Well I didn't want him back. I said on here it was a retrograde step. He was reported as saying that there wasn't enough "banter" in the dressing room, so wanted more British players. Hence we're lumbered with Carroll, Downing and Adam, three of the most screamingly average players I've seen in a red shirt in the 47 years I've been going to Anfield (I still have hopes for Henderson).

So. Dalglish shouldn't have come back and we should not think that it would be similarly regressive to bring back Benitez. He is so superior as a manager to Dalglish and would do wonders with the current regime behind him. As Didi Hamann says in his book, Rafa is a genius. He had little money, a sell-to-buy transfer policy to work with and no backing from the previous owners.

I don't like to see Daglish struggling but it was almost inevitable he would as the game moved on a lot when he was out of management. For what it's worth today's shambolic performance easily makes the top ten worst I've seen from us in those 47 years - shapeless, gutless and pathetic. We made the worst team in the Premier League look like a good pass-and-move team

He's basically the chief scout, he finds the targets. Kenny says "I want a DM/CB/ST etc." "Here are the options kenny, i've checked out the whole of Europe'", I'm quite certain Comolli is NOT the money man and (executively) decides the transfer values/wages etc.

Glanced at a few quotes and to be fair to Carroll, he looked like he was up for it and actually contributed far more than a few others.
Adam and Maxi looked lost out there tonight, I'm surprised changes weren't made at half time.

One thing that bugs me, I want to see Henderson smash into to someone to show if he ****in cares a bit, he wasn't the worst out there tonight but I'd like to see him put his boot in a little, even if it ends up a red card

Carroll may looked up for it and he did have some decent touched ... but only because the rest of the team were so utterly useless tonight we are cutting him a break .. In a Rafa team if he played like that he would get slaughterd .. at least when Crouch was not scoring his on the ball skills, hold up play, dribbling was superb ...watching A Carroll play right now is like stepping into a time machine to the mid 80s and not in a good way

IF a new manager was to be put in place this summer. He'd be in pretty much the same situation as when Kenny came in. Masses of players that we need to improve on and a real lack of quality throughout the squad. FSG need to invest again this summer but I'm not certain they will with the stadium.

                      I disagree.

I think he is, which is exactly the reason why FSG picked him.

We bought Hendo, Downing and Adam as those 3 created the most goal scoring chances last year and that is definitely moneyball approach and Comolli stands behind that one way or another.

I've said it before and will say it again I do not believe the statistical approach we use to target players is helping us to identify the right players. It is misleading and I feel it's one of the reasons we keep getting linked with some pretty average players. I don't have faith in our scouting department.

Maybe our definition of moneyball is different (I have no idea what you mean by it), but I highly doubt Comolli is the one who has the final say on the transfer value and the wages and the whole package, similar to the way a CFO or CEO has. I could be wrong. Probably am. It's not important though really. Kenny's the manager and has the final say on the players being brought in, whatever they cost is irrespective of the quality of the player.
