    Liverpool's best ever player

I along with many others believe(d) Kenny was/is the best player ever for our club. Does anybody else think that even though he has not won as much, it is time for Steven Gerrard to take the mantle.

I have watched both players for their whole carreers with us and I now think the influence and downright determination shown, combined with his sublime skills shown over the years, it is time for Stevie to take the crown.

    Any other views?

Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

    Stevie G for me.

Saw the back end of Kenny's playing days and while he was an incredible player Stevie has had to almost do it on his own so many times. And he has single handedly saved more times than I can ever remember.

He is just the complete footballer. The best English player of all time IMHO.

      gerrard for me.

look at the dross he has had to play with. he has single handedly dragged the team to success for years and for that reason he is number 1 for me

For me its Stevie or Barnes - too hard to choose. We could debate it all day and still be no nearer a answer.

          Better than Carlton Palmer?

I'm not sure I can separate them to be honest. It's definitely between the two for me. Kenny was the reason I started supporting us in the first place - but I was perhaps too young to fully appreciate the trophies we won in that time, whilst Gerrard has contributed the most in terms of my joy as a Liverpool fan since then so.... it's a draw.

I can only go for Gerrard because I'm too young to remember Kenny. Obviously I've seen video's and clips of Kenny but I've seen Gerrard for 12 years now.

Nobody comes close in my lifetime.

Kenny was sublime around the box and truely gifted. gerrard might edge it for sheer graft and driving the team on and virtually winning some games on his own.

there have been so many greats, especially during the glory years. if some had played for us for all their career then you might also have to look at others such as hansen, souness, kennedy, thompson, rush, barnes, callaghan, hamman, carra, hypia, [i dont know when to stop. this could end up being a very long list...], etc...
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Jean Michel Ferri. Blink and you'd miss him.

The greatest trick Jean Michel Ferri ever played was making you believe Jean Michel Ferri didn't exist.

It's Gerrard of course. Playing in a much more competitive league and not for the most dominant side. He's a complete player and would've thrived in many positions for us. Had he gone to Chelsea a few years back then he'd have been knighted by now and they'd be dominating the Premier league and Europe.

Thank **** he didn't go there.

Kenny is still No 1 IMO
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Even though at 34 I'm too young to recall his best days, Kenny.
