The performance encapsulated the problems we had over the season. However today is not the day to complain about that.

We have been far too long without winning anything. This gives us a base, a starting point. A whole new generation of players have now experienced the highs of winning a cup and will want to experience it again. It gives them the confidence that they can write their names into the history books of this club.

It cultivates a mentality, a state of mind which is very very important. Istanbul 2005 would not have happened without the 2001 treble.

Right now we have the management to take advantage of this win and build upon it.

im glad our lads won the cup and hope that this will help to restore the winning mentality at Anfield [north and south].

moving on, lets hope that our team carries less passengers and that all players who are lucky enough to wear that shirt realise they must put in a full shift, or their time will be up.
