Heh.

We were terrible in the 2005 Champions League final for stretches, and really kinda spawned it. We weren't great against West Ham in the 2006 FA final and kinda spawned it too. We were also quite bad against Brum back in 2001 and had to beat them on penalties. In all honesty we played better today than we did in any of those games, we just had the same issue we have all season, not being able to finish or truly unlock a stubborn defence.

Several players had pretty bad games, and we definitely have work to do this summer in attacking areas of the pitch, but we won a cup, that's all that matters.

Don't forget we were hammered by Arsenal in 2001, and conceded 4 in the UEFA Cup final too.

Don't wish to dwell on negatives but the loss of Lucas has left a gaping hole in our team this season. Fantastic to see him up and about.

My main wish for that game, towards the end, was for Dirk's goal to be the winner. For all the years he's put in it would have been a fitting way to get a trophy.

Terrible terrible game and we never looked like we really wanted to win it. I can't feel happy after a performance like that. It means nothing if our so called big players can't even contribute. The team was all wrong, we looked like we were set up wrong, the tacticvs looked rudimentary and far too basic. This isn't how its supposed to be.

Pleased for Kuyt, but thats about all I can take from this, I don't know what to think.

Wha? Serious? A cup is a cup. It's never a rollover. Be happy.

Yeah ok. It was a rollercoaster and maybe I posted in haste. I didn't enjoy the game was the point I was trying to get across. As a spectacle, it was pretty hard to watch.

Great game, both teams totally went for it, good football...

Us and finals though eh As soon as Johnsons shot hit the bar we controlled it for about 20 mins and then they scored... You just knew it was going to be one of those days. And after Kuyt cleared of the line, I knew they were going to score next corner in.....
Saying that I thought we'd arsed it in the pens. Great composure from Downing, Kuyt and Johnson.

I think today highlighted again the areas in the team where we have some deficiencies, we create but we don't score. But 39 shots 19 on target is impressive. 2 of those off target (Adam and Johnson) missed by a ball hair.

And........We deserved it. Cardiff were immense, courageous played to the end - but we were better than them and should have had it sewn up pretty much before they scored. You could see nerves with some of them, and winning the trophy can only help with that.

And now that we are in the Europa I think we can totally go for 4th place. We need not fear missing 5th place and Euro football, that surely should provide us with a degree of comfort.

I hope the lads kick on from this. FA Cup Final is doable, and 4th place is doable.
