Transfer policy from Dalglish has killed progress

The transfer policy from Daglish killed any progress the club was going to make in the summer of 2011. He spunked over a 100M on utter dross and we are now paying the proce for it. Kenny is a legend he's done a lot for the club and city but sentiment aside his transfer policy has been nothing short of abysmal. Henderson and Downing have 1 league between them in over 50 games of league football. In downing case 0 goals and assists in the league. Frightening stuff really. We just aren't good enough. Yes it's great to win a cup but don't let it paper of the cracks. Bad luck, posts hit, pens missed etc. We can't keep making escuses.

I have been a liverpool fan for over 40 years, i have watched kenny in charge before and seen all the great liverpool teams. Manager's live and die by their signings and frankly i have been underwhelmed by most of his purchases. Ineffective management in the transfer market has let us down for 20 years when it comes league football. Completely gutted at our league campaign this season. I'm not asking for kenny's head. I'm just disappointed in his dealings in the market in the main. I'd look to sell Carroll in the summer. Nowhere near good enough for this club, Adam and Downing are merely squad players yet Dagllish continues to say he's better than expected.

    Thoughts are welcome.

Welcome to the forum (at least the posting side to it, instead of the lurking side ) and please dont take offence, but i really dont think we needed another thread on this same topic. There's one already discussing the issue here:

      Utter dross is way OTT

Not massively enamoured by the signings either, but we have played very well in many games and whilst I would agree that more signings are needed, I dont think we are anywhere near as bad as your post suggests

Its easy to come up with excuses, but we have hit the woodwork 21 times this season. 6 more than City and United who are top and second, and 10 times more than Spurs in 3rd

We genuinely have been incredibly unlucky in lots of games, we've also played poorly but I've seen many performances that I can take heart from

Its impossible to totally rebuild a team in one summer, which is pretty much what Kenny is trying to do. A few more first team signings and it will be complete

Its obvious that he's gone for Premiership experience as a safe option, which isnt quite working, but if we can add a couple of truly great players to the foundation we've built so far, I think we'll be a force again

But then saying that, I cant remember the last time we didnt use the 'transition period' in conversation about our failings...
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet
