Were better away from home anyway plus with Sessengnon and Cattermole out we should be confident. I feel that if Kenny plays Bellamy, Suarez and Carroll then we should win. But sadly im not confident he will get the team right. Carra will captain and start

I'd like to just see us go for games for no one, we don't have anything to lose because we don't even have to finish in 6th or 7th to make Europe.

Go for broke, let the youngsters have a go and hopefully play knowing that for us really we can't do any worse then we currently are.

If we get forth we get forth, if we don't we improve in the summer and theres always next season

I don't think we should go with a team of kids as some people seem to be suggesting but I think that there should be more opportunities for starts for the likes of Coates and Shelvey and give some of the youngsters closest to the first team time from the bench.

Liverpool duo Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson are set to return to training on Thursday ahead of Saturday's clash with Sunderland.

Gerrard and Johnson missed last weekend's defeat to Arsenalafter suffering injuries while on international duty with England.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is hoping the pair will come through training unscathed so that they are available for this weekend's trip to the Stadium of Light.

"Steven and Glen are back in training today, so we'll see how they are," said

                Dalglish.

Asked if Gerrard's return would be a boost for his side, Dalglish added: "I wouldn't restrict it to just Stevie - it's a good boost for us to have anybody back, Steven included.

"Having Glen back as well, who was doing fantastic, will be good for us.

"We'll see how they do in training and judge it from there." LINK

I would start him on the weekend.

Carra's days are numbered and we need to give Coates more games this season as he won't continue to develop just by playing for reserves.

Would also like to see Sterling on the bench at some point as he will be a part of our plans for next year.

Sorry but we have to have the most experienced line up for this game, especially at CB. Carra is the marshall at the back and it is vital he plays, yes I would like to see Coates get game time but I do not think this match is right for him.

Yes Tee "Carra is the Marshal at the back for us" No? Marshalled Van Persie Very well on Saturday didn't he? Yet Coates his replacment? Did marshal the backline well enough at the Bridge a few months back in the league cup for us to win there with a Clean Sheet - Despite all this? Carra' is needed? Don't make me laugh - He's no reason to be near the team on Saturday without Coates being injured. To say he's now a danger to us defensively? Is Understatment of the Decade territory. On Saturday? He shouldn't be within a Mile of the team.................

Fair points but can you imagine what it will be like for Coates should he play and make similar errors?

Carra has to play. And I will be shocked if he doesn't. He has been out of the team a while so with every game back he will get sharper.

Coates is the future and needs to be broken in carefully and selectively. His time will come, it's just my opinion that if we still have this very slim chance of 4th we need experience in key positions.

If Kenny wants to concentrate on the future (and concede 4th spot is out of our grasp) then, as I have said on a different thread, yes he should give the youngsters some game time now.

My brain starts smoking when I read your posts Redshadow? You - love a bit of, punctuation.

It will be interesting to see if Carra gets dropped. If he does, and Coates is brought in, it could spell the end for Carra.

Yeah sorry Tee, but I completely disagree.

With all due respect to Carragher, he's done for as a top-level player and has been on the decline for the last two or three years now.

As many of us have said above, Coates isn't a mug. He won the young player of the Copa America tournament last year, and I think I'm right in saying that he played three games and Uruguay didn't concede when he was on the pitch. Someone else might have the stats to hand there though.

I don't get this 'Carra must organise us' thing either. Agger (when fit) is a leader, Skrtel has played for us for five years now, won leagues in Russia and captained his country. We have Reina to organise the back four, and two experienced fullbacks in Johnson and Enrique. Plus having Carra in the team when Agger is out means moving Skrtel to left fullback which shouldn't be done. Coates is a left fullback so it's a seamless transition when slotting him in.

                              But that's just my opinion.
