I've had massive reservations about him since the beginning. I've even heard plenty of stuff from Spurs fans that he wasn't as involved in the Modric deal as you'd believe. Anyway, here's how St Etienne feel about him.
Caiazzo said: 'You need some humility in football and Damien was convinced he was right 100 per cent of the time. There was never any question of dialogue.

'Damien enjoyed total power in his first year with us. His was the last word on all transfers and that is how he wanted it.

'The manager at the time, Alain Perrin, had not even seen some of the players he was given. Damien was his boss.

'His powers were much reduced in January after the failure of his transfer policy the previous summer and he was not pleased.

'I would have fired him then but my co-chairman defended him for months, even when results were poor. It was a mistake bringing him back to the club.'

He's come here on the back of a recommendation by Billy Beane. It feels like a case of getting a position based on who you know rather than what you know.

JFC!! That list!! **** me! Who let this joker in?? Hutton, Bent, Bentley, Corluka, Pavyluchenko...

I reckon he's got the job off a couple of nice signings but his overall eye for a player is atrocious. Remember how proud he was to sign Downing like he was the second coming or something.

I think that is as close assessment of his role with us as it can be.

In fairness there is also no evidence that he didn't suggest any players from France and Kenny didn't think they were good enough and went for British talent instead.

I've seen evidence of neither so far.
Yeah I thought that too, but as you say it hasn't happening, the players we signed it looks like the scouted them by someone watching match of the day from their living room

Im still not sure what he actually does.
Does he choose the players we buy?
Does Kenny choose the players, and he negotiates the fee?
Is he just a glorified scout?

Either way i found it very small time when he walked into the players dressing room grinning an hour before kick-off at the Arsenal match with the Carling Cup in his hands. This was all shown on Sky's build up, and to make matters Stevie was asked to parade the trophy before kick-off.

Never liked him, never liked his role. Actually quite depressing when I look at the structure of the whole club. A shambles really and we have several key people in roles they shouldn't be. DC being the most obvious IMO.

He is the only one who has the South America, English PL and Championship database from Football Manager installed.

How do you know this though? Do you see what he does everyday, who his contacts are, what players he had on his radar?

He might have given Kenny a list of top foreigners eg. Pap Cisse, Demba Ba, Pogrebnyak etc... and Kenny said no.

I usually find people blaming random club positions usually are too afraid to face the truth of either an under performing manager, players or combination of both.

That is a fair point, but then if all he is doing is making recommendations that Kenny is ignoring (and he is not making a convincing case) he really does not have a job to do for us does he?

Dont be too harsh on Pavyluchenko. He's quite good when he's playing frequently. I'd prefer him over Carrol.

You simply do not know. He could be influential in academy work, solid scouting networks, contacts etc... He is a proven and experienced footballing expert in his field, we really are not in a position to judge based on our ignorance of not knowing his day-to-day job.

It's like saying give me a calculator and I can be an accountant, or he just sits with spreadsheets all day and anyone can do that.

                            Give the guy a break.

How about affording Kenny the same courtesy?

Because I know what he does (or doesn't!!!)

Apart from total goals conceded and some spells of final 3rd excellence, bar the end product, there is nothing I can support about Kenny's management this season and it is so evident it is untrue.

The football fan world is laughing at our club in hysterics about our obsession with Kenny and it's only a handful of rose-tinted pundits and LFC fans who think Kenny should stay.
