Benitez wont get a look in if Kenny goesOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostWhy doesn't he count?
Man, I dunno. I'd be tempted to go for a maverick appointment like Bielsa. I'm not sure we'd be dining at the top table in terms of potential appointments. To my mind Benitez would be by a distance the best manager we could attract. Outside of him, Bielsa would be a lot of fun
but I struggle to think of many appealing, realistic candidates.
If Kenny went my fear would be FSG going for someone like ****ing Deschamps.

This sounds like the the guff that was spouted by the Bodge supporters to extenuate his performance. Benitez (whom I don't want back) was booted for not being up to it - the "it" being challenging for the title - yet when Bodge, or others come in, it's: "hold on everyone, reality check here, we haven't won the league for yonks so your expectations are too high".Originally posted by Darkon View PostI'm not going to start that old tiresome discussion again, that have gone in circles plenty of times already on here.
My point is that of course the expectations towards the team affect how you assess them. And in general I think we still have to high expectations to what can be achieved in a short area of time because of our history rather than our present situation. It's not just this season, it's been that way for a very long time now.
The performance in the league - the yardstick by which we should be measured - has simply not been good enough, especially with all the advantages that Kenny has enjoyed compared to his predecessors.

I do also feel the fan base is too divided by Benitez so even in the event of him getting past Ayre he will not get an easy rideOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostNo question.

This is a big worry if you look at the people at the top that will be making the decisons:Originally posted by Shaggy View PostNo question.
Ayre wants ****ing off as well.
FSG - Admitted that they know absolutely sweet FA about football.
Ian Ayre - part of the team that thought replacing Benitez with Bodge was a good idea.
Damien Comolli - ???? Hhmm.

I think that is very much apparent but personally I couldn't give a **** about those intent on not giving him an easy ride.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI do also feel the fan base is too divided by Benitez so even in the event of him getting past Ayre he will not get an easy ride

It's a major worry. I worry that Comolli is a chancer, that Ayre is completely clueless outside of international marketing, and FSG demonstrably and by their own admission know little about football.

Could beOriginally posted by The Birdman View PostIs that the shining leader, beacon of light Ian Ayre?
Or it could be the one who was pissed up and slagging Rafa off a few years backBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Think we're discussing the same guy, I have no/little time for him outside of his commercial/middle east knowledge.Originally posted by Lecter View PostCould be

I had however, completely forgotten he was part of the anti Rafa brigade. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
