He still isn't at the level he should be but the improvement is there to see.
Sorry mate imo but not enough for £20m & £70k per week wages English international that was brought in to make an instant impact.

Yes he did show some signs of improvement (I don't deny that) but to me that is too little and nearly not enough from a winger with mentality that is not right for the club of our size that wasn't cheap buy to begin with.

I hate when he plays on right and that frustrates me so much as he is absolutely ineffective and he cannot cross the ball on that side and support our forwards (or Carroll in particular), which was the main reason why he was signed up.

He plays slightly better than what he did over the majority of the season but imo that isn't good enough to keep his place in the starting lineup.

I'd play Bellamy over him any day, every day.
Mos, you're concerned about how Carroll's confidence is affected when he's dropped and said he should given a chance to continue his recent improvement by starting regularly.

How come your attitude is the complete opposite when it comes to poor old Downing?

I actually don't rate very much neither player but I don't believe that they have been treated nor managed in the same way since they joined us.

Downing has been regularly used >29 starts this year pretty much game in and game out and has 2 goals and 1 assist to show for.

Andy, on the other hand, only had 22 starts but he has been used so inconsistently (dropped so many times even when he played well and showed some improvement) and yet his production is much better than Downing's with 6 goals and 3 assists.

Andy is also only 23 and he is 4 and half years younger and really at the begining of his footballing career especially given his position in the team and you cannot say the same thing about Downing, who by this point in his career should be clicking at all cylinders and he is not.

Definitely should be ahead of Carra.

We really should feature few more youngsters and give more playing time to players, now that the season is "over", like Shelvey that were given little or no chance to impress.

It doesn't make any sense to not let him go on a loan and keep him on the bench when we have very little to play for the rest of the season.

Our last 6 league games have yielded 4 losses, 1 draw and 1 win

                              Wigan's last 6 were 4 draws, 1 loss and 1 win

I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet
