The problem with that is that Kezman was superb in a foreign league, so success in the Bundesliga doesnt mean anything in terms of the player doing the business in the English top flight. Cisse MAY prove brilliant, but he's done far less in english football than Carroll, so if Carroll hasnt done enough in the PL to have proven good enough for us, neither has Cisse.Originally posted by Mostar View PostI said that Lucas and Tiote are very similar in quality and if you disagree that is fine.
In terms of critising Carroll I didn't critize him in that post but our decision to acquire him after only half of the season at the highest level and we paid a fortune for him as he is either already established world class striker or one with the world potential and he is neither.
That siad, I will say that Carroll has many, many holes in his game and is not good fit for us, which you cannot say for Cisse, who may be playing short time in PL but I have seen him play many times in Bundesliga and imo he is better and more complete player than Andy and would be much better fit.

I'd suggest that winning a cup or two can be seen as delivering too.Originally posted by Zapater View PostRafa delivered immediately and no one cut him any slack. I guess you prefer mid table/top half finishes and domestic cups than top 4 finishes and being a genuine European contender.
Of course i dont prefer midtable finishes, but i'm also not a megalomaniac Abramovich type who thinks you either move heaven and earth in one season, or you're sacked.

So you're saying that a competition that was won by a relegated team last season is 'delivering'?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI'd suggest that winning a cup or two can be seen as delivering too.
And in Rafa's first season when he finished 5th I remember him being given stick in pubs and on message boards etc. Saying apart from the Arsenal win were there any good performances in the league etc etc should we look to replace him after the next season and so on. And Rafa didn't have the luxury to spend massive sums on tripe like Downing either.
So I don't buy your Kenny gets it worse than others song and dance.

Jesus Christ, I never said anything of the sort. I've just said that in the time that Dalglish has had, he hasn't showed that he is going to take this team in the right direction. The form and performances this year have been disgraceful and he needs to address this. If he doesn't feel he can turn things around I'd prefer (and like to think) he stepped down with dignity intact.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostOf course i dont prefer midtable finishes, but i'm also not a megalomaniac Abramovich type who thinks you either move heaven and earth in one season, or you're sacked.

Isn't phrasing like 'move heaven and earth' a bit melodramatic in itself?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI'd suggest that winning a cup or two can be seen as delivering too.

Where the player is coming from and if it is from inferior league doesn't mean much as RVP, Drogba, RVN etc came from the same or lower quality league and prove to be quality players in PL.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThe problem with that is that Kezman was superb in a foreign league, so success in the Bundesliga doesnt mean anything in terms of the player doing the business in the English top flight. In terms of Carroll and Cisse, Carroll cost more than 3 times than Cisse so the level of risk in terms of investment is not even comparable.
Also Carroll learnt his trade in England so on the surface he should have the advantage but if you look the production that is not really the case regardless that Cisse has been here short time.
Carroll started 15 games and scored 3 goals in PL and Cisse started 4 games only and scored 3 goals or as many as Carroll.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

And the point still remains, if 6 months of PL football isnt enough to suggest a player is good enough for us, how can a few games be enough?
You must surely see my logic here?
