Jones in nets is a worry but if we can dominate them then hopefully they wont get too many chances to test him.

For me, Maxi and Dirk to start, Carroll and Suarez upfront and Gerrard CM alongside who, i dont know. Neither Spearing or Henderson excel as a DM. Back four surely picks itself, assuming Johnson and Agger are fine.

It's fair to say Shelvey deserves to play, but so does Carroll for me and if Andy plays up with Suarez, then Gerrard will be CM. In which case, you cant play Shelvey and Gerrard in a CM pairing.

You're right, wouldn't fancy those as a midfield two but IMO Shelvey & Carroll both deserve to start. Nice to have the dilemma.

I'd play Downing on the right to stop Baines and so he can cut in and score ala the quarters against Stoke. All of Downings goals have come in the cup. all two of them.

Imagine how much peace of mind it'd give you if Lucas was available and fit. He's a massive player for us and we've got a good few of these influential types now. Suarez, Gerrard, Lucas, Agger, Skrtel and Pepe are quite a spine. Johnson and Enrique are class too for their roles and Carroll has a part to play if he can get his confidence going. Plus Maxi with his quality and goal threat.

Despite the ****ty season and gloom, when all are fit, we've still got the makings of a very good team.

i suspect that wil be the team, but luis & carroll don't play that well together
