Probably because £35m can buy you a World Class player with a proven track record these days.

I don't think about the money, I just support the player.

Carroll was bought as a senior player, for the first team. We're talking about buying the best youth out there, nothing to do with Carroll, his fee or his abilities. there is another thread for that...

And thats part of the reason Commoli is out the door. A massive outlay on players that's only paid dividends in the cups - lovely to win but they don't fill the coffers with cash like a top 4 finish could.

was it his job to get rid of degen, el zhar, poulsen etc? or it was someone else's job?

Does it matter? The massive hits we took in paying of their contracts is something a monkey could have arranged.

The only reason we got rid was because having players in the squad who will never be considered for game time is quite destructive with regards to morale.

I am fully convinced we will have saved hardly any cash in releasing them, if any at all in some cases.

Identify the best up and coming talents in British football and sign them at reduced fees before they make it big.

Dalglish rightly identified Henderson & Carroll as fitting that mould.

But Commoli ****ed up by paying over the odds for them. Instead of paying reduced fees, he paid inflated fees. And that's why he's out the door.
I really don't understand your logic here. Henderson and Carroll, plainly were not available for purchase at reduced fees. And I'm not sure why you've left out Downing from your list, although I have a pretty good idea

For me, what it boils down to is that Dalglish has said that every player who has come in is only there because he wanted them signed. Comolli got Dalglish his wish. For me, Dalglish is just as culpable, if not more so than Comolli for last summers debacle.

And I don't get this 'French Parry' **** either. Parry was infamous for dithering in the transfer market. Unwilling to budge an inch on price, which in turn, lead to us losing out on several players. How is that in anyway what Comolli has done? If anything he's the anti-Parry!

There are a few people on here who seem to be happy to swallow this whole 'it's all Comolli's fault' line, making him a scapegoat for a transfer window ****up that had Dalglish's fingerprints all over it. Dalglish is a legend, but he's not infallible. Christ, the guy ****ed up last summer. His poor judgement (along with Comolli's) has cost us dear this season. Surely we should all be able to agree to that much at least. It's whether he gets another season is what the talking point should be.

I suppose it makes a change to missing out on targets through refusing to pay for top whack.

I've always thought (especially after recent big money failures) that we will go aggressively down the young player market and look to build something special for the future, the short term hasn't worked out for us unfortunately.

barca signed a few duds recently.

chyrginsky was one, martin caceres, keirrison, thierry henry, henrique, zlatan ibrahimovic were all below average signings for them.

chyrginsky was unlucky because he got a bad injury but he looked a very good defender but not too clever on the ball.

the only reason to appoint tixi would be a future move for guardiola. otherwise it makes no sense whatsoever.
