Adam is the one that I find most frustrating
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

      I have it just reverse

We are far thinner on the wing squad wise, so I'd rather keep Downing for rotation, he is not that bad - just not quite that good either.

Adam IMO have although a promising start, showed to be far to poor for a quick passing team.

It's not so much frustration for me - I just don't think he is a good fit for the type of team we want to be. Off the ball he's useless and on it his decisions are to biased towards long balls. He'd be the one to go for me.

24 in January 2013 so another 8 or 9 months. A lot can happen in that time

The point still stands what was Crouch doing when he was that age?

          I'd still stick with Carroll

Downing has to go though. He can't fall back on age as an excuse. And although I think Adam is a reasonable squad player his game annoys the **** out of me, I think we could improve here as well.
Nobody would give us the money back on them

We've made an investment in those players at the moment its looking a bad investment but it might be that long term they will prove a good investment

I see like the purchase of shares, sometimes they go down in value initially but if you hold on to them they can end up being a good investment

I'd hold on to Carroll & Henderson I think they'll end up decent players for us

Downing I would be happy to go in fact I'd be actively selling him

Adam is what he is hes a squad player but that said hes a squad player with a decent amount of assists

Despite this Adam has one of our highest number of assists

I think his form has dipped but only when Lucas went but then so has teams performance as a unit

I know, but he still doesn't impress for the short passing game we try to set up. Looking at the number of assists alone will only tell you so much. He is to slow on the ball, his first touch not quite there and takes 2-3 touches every time and that's not what we need for our game IMO.

Downing has a good level of ability but through out his career he has lacked mental strength and never performed in any consistent manner which is a major worry. His other issue (and imo has been a huge problem with many of our summer signings) is his descision making, something probably associated with his lack of mental strength. He panics too often, rushes too often and shoots in bad situations too often.

Adam again has poor descision making skills, I know he has assists, but something like all but 2 are set pieces. His short passing game is poor, he is not good under pressure and defensively terrible.

Henderson has good and neat passing game, but he too often dissappears out of games. I know he supposed to be one for the future, but he has played something like all but 1 game this season. Must say, he did look decent as a full back, but I think he doesn't really have the right mindset for a CM, and is not attacking enough and too poor a finisher for an AM and he just doesn't strike me a winger.

Carroll has a great shot and when confident can be effective, but I really worry about his technical ability and positional sense. Very happy to see him putting some effort in, but will he keep it up if things don't go his way?

Just had a flashback to Gerrard's early career where he had to play emergency right back (in a European game?) against a classy winger. Everyone took notice of who Gerrard was after that.

Henderson has the build, height, speed, short-passing, skill and even some shooting range of Gerrard. He just doesn't have the confidence. Unfortunatley, confidence makes or breaks a great player and I just hope Stevie guides him through this phase.

Adam, downing and Henderson will all be handy players next season....

If we can add another winger, a central midfielder and a striker, then we are cooking on gas....

                      Hopefully next season, we will;

                      - have Gerrard fit for most of the season
                      - Suarez hopefully won't have a 9 match ban
                      - hopefully Lucas won't be broken
                      - Carragher becomes 4th choice centre back as Coates steps up
                      - Flanagan, Robinson, Sterling and maybe Wisdom and Coady all become squad players as they get some eurodisney league time
                      - we sign 2 or 3 handy players

And then we will be cooking on gas.....

The bad times of this season will only make the good times of the future even better....

I'm not sure he has Gerrard's shooting ability, he only has 2 career goals, but I agree he'll become a good player with more confidence.

I'd flog Adam & Downing and keep the rest.

I slated him earlier but e is improving with every game. His crossing in particular has vastly improved of late. Im happy to give him time now, he's also put in two great cup performances against Cardiff and Everton. If we took our chances infront of goal then we would have been applauding Downing.

That cross he put onto Carrolls head in the 47th minute was brilliant. Were not finishing the chances he creates
The more he plays with someone other than Enrique behind him the better. He needs to run on to the ball, not have it delivered to his feet. We usually play against a resilient defence and he's not suited to close combat, it's not in his demeanour. I'm wondering if he'll ever succeed here, due to how teams set themselves up against us, but it's baffling how United seem to find so much space when they're attacking yet we're always up against a wall of opponents. Surely United are feared far more than us at present? The answer is that it's our build up play being so slow.
