Aurelio is a great footballer totally let down by his body. And a much better player than Enrique.

I'm scared we might see Agger at left back style move on Saturday to accommodate vice-captain fantastic again.

Thought the same earlier too. Really hope that we're wrong.

He was atrocious. Shelvey was bad but I can forgive him for obvious reasons, but Spearing is just not and never will be good enough for us.

On the plus side I just saw myself on the telly

Riise was practically stationed right in front of me the entire first half. After we went 1-0 down I shouted "giz an own goal, eh John?" and he laughed and gave the thumbs up. Shortly after he cut out/blocked a pass with his right foot and he said to us "I've got to use it for something, huh?"

If Kenny does that then it firmly puts to bed any talk of him acting only in the best interests of the Club.

Riise did well for us. Always one of my favourites - probably from being in the crowd when he scored THAT freekick.

Dalglish rang the changes ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final with Chelsea, but any hopes the incoming players had of forcing their way into his plans evaporated as the Cottagers claimed their first-ever victory at the home of the Reds.

The only goal of the game came as early as the fifth minute when Clint Dempsey fed John Arne Riise, with his drilled low cross flicking off Alex Kacaniklic before the unfortunate Martin Skrtel could only divert the ball beyond the helpless Alexander Doni.

Dalglish admitted after the game that he may have made a mistake in resting so many of his key men ahead of the Wembley showpiece this weekend, but felt the players on duty on Tuesday night had let the club down.

"The attitude and approach to the game is where it went wrong," he told Sky Sports.
                        Wrong

"Maybe I was culpable for trying to give as many of them a game as I possibly could to put them in the frame for Saturday.

"The attitude and desire wasn't there. We can't play at that tempo, we have to play quicker than that.

"There were one or two who did well, but apart from that it was not a good night for us, myself included. There is a lot of people of have got to take responsibility for it.

"We tried to be fair and give everyone an opportunity. Maybe I was wrong.

"This won't affect the performance on Saturday, but it is disappointing because every game is important.

"There are people who come along to support us and they deserve a better performance than that."
                        Carroll

One positive for Dalglish was the return of Andy Carroll, who missed Saturday's victory away to Norwich through injury, but completed the full 90 minutes and put in a good shift.

"It was nice to see the big man back," Dalglish added.

"He had a niggle at the weekend, but he's back, he's fit, he has played the 90 minutes so that is good for us."
You can almost hear the letdown reading that. As both I and others mentioned it was a big big disappointment that the players getting a chance never showed they wanted a chance on Saturday or after this season in general.

Several players could have taken a spot on the bench at least for the final, and not one of the players not around the team already showed they wanted that. Doni the exception perhaps.

What a massive letdown. In the buildup thread most of us called for some changes and sparing the usuals for Saturday - not sure that was the case if we knew what level of commitment came out of it!...

Let them rejoice in their minute of glory.
                            Are we winning?

I hope all these dodgy little records get wiped out this season

Then we wont have to listen to wanky commentators adding these little nuggets of information into their commentary
