I think there are common problems to both sets of players - lack of tactical awareness and reliance on one or two players to make vital areas of the team function. Rafa went with Alonso and Garcia to integrate things and Kenny went with Adam and Downing. However, had two key advantages in my view - he had been active in the game recently and bought a set of staff he trusted.

I'm still of the opinion that Kenny needs more time and that stability is valuable. We should be looking to instil a common way of playing and ethos throughout the club and that will take time. My feeling is though that we do need to alter both key areas of the squad and backroom staff.

again mate kenny inherited a much better squad all round who badly underperformed under hodgson to the load of crap that benitez inherited from houllier.

of course this is all in my humble opinion mate

but i wonder who will be advising FSG ?
It's very selective though, Rafa inherited Gerrard and Carragher too (who were entering their prime), add that to Hamann, Hyypia, Riise, Dudek and Kewell and he had a decent spine, which ironically enough lacked goals in his first season too. Baros was our top scorer with 9 in the league and Gerrard and Gerrard, Baros and Garcia finished our top scorers with 13.

Yes, I would prefer to inherit Kenny's defence, but I'd want Rafa's midfield.

I can't agree that Rafa inherited crap from Houllier, whilst Kenny took over a cracking squad of underperformers, but appreciate it's all about opinions mate - it's what we're on here for.

All this talk of Alonso and Garcia is making me feel a bit sad.

Really flat today. Really ****ing flat. Just walked into town to get the car and spent an hour just replaying the game in my head.

And the rumour is that Torres spent 20 mins in the LFC dressing room instead of celebrating the FA cup win

I've seen a number of similar tweets. If true he must be regretting what he did.

Yeah he didn't get on yesterday in the FA cup so will have no chance in the CL final. Going by that tweet you could read in to him having regrets. I'd have him back in a heart beat. him, Suarez and Carroll would be some force.

Surely he was just having a bit of "for old time's sake" with Pepe?

I'd have thought that as well mate but the fact he didn't even get on yesterday to me says a lot of what Chelsea think of him.

Possibly but in Reina's article he criticised the way CFC have handled him and added ex players he speaks to nearly always have regrets about leaving.

I might be reading too much into it but I suspect it relates to him.

I initially hated him for leaving but when you think what the club had been through with owners and Hodgson it's not unreasonable for a player to lose faith, they only have a short career.

Although we don't the ins and outs it was the way/when he left what left a bitter taste plus what he said but I suppose he wanted to get the chelsea fans onside
                                RIP IRWT post/rant, best ever
