    Lucas Injury Progress?

Lot of talk about Lucas and whether can can regain his form after such a bad injury. Has anyone heard anything about his progress/how he is getting on? Is he even back running?

There was an interview the other day where he said he's on course to take part in pre season training.

Can't remember where I read it

Lucas Leiva has revealed his delight at the progress he's making in his rehabilitation towards a return to action next season.

The Brazil midfielder sustained an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in November that required surgery and subsequently ruled him out for the remainder of 2011-12.

Lucas returned to Melwood at the start of the year and while he admits there is still a long way to go before he regains full fitness, he's pleased with how his recovery has gone so far.

He told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It's going well. The knee has responded very well after surgery.

"There's still a long way to go, but everything is going as planned and the doctors are very happy with my progress."

I'm sure I read the other day that he was back in physical training - which I think is the penultimate phase of recovery (before training with the ball). On course to be back for pre-season.

          Cheers lads.

If he is back in physical training that's fantastic. Once he can build up the legs and the fitness that's a good step. I hope that if after such a long time out he doesn't start picking up silly little niggles and injuries.

He's need a good solid pre season into him alright.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva expects to return to training sometime this summer.

The 25-year old Brazilian has been sidelined since November because of anterior cruciate ligament damage in his knee but is now stepping up his recovery.

"I'm in the final stage of my recovery. I've been recovering for six months,” he told Sportv.

"I am currently in the physical stage, aiming to be back for pre-season, so that I can be back on the pitch as soon as possible."

For me the hardest part was trusting my knee again.

I recovered from knee ligament damage many years ago but for a couple of years after my injury I still played with a knee support because in my mind I was terrified it would go again (which it never did and has been actually stronger since).
