Deep lying CM matt and he was fantastic with Lucas until Lucas injury, had a mare with Spearing as well both have no positional sense & sure he was injured for latter part of season too.

Have to have a bit of balance matt, as a squaddie and playing nearer to opposition goal he could be a very useful player imo.

He wasn't fantastic mate, he was decent because Lucas made him look better by covering for him. He flatters to deceive imo, his intelligence and use of the ball are often found wanting.

Imo, if you don't want Aquilani, I cannot see why you would want Adam who is significantly inferior.

Its hard though, are we playing Gerrard as the advanced one in the three or not?

If we bring in Allen it would be him and Lucas surely, with Hendo as backup for Allen, Shelvey for Stevie, which would mean Adam would be possibly sixth choice.

Him and Lucas were fantastic. And that is my point Matt 'he cannot defend' so Lucas covering for him was perfect.

Adam has no positional sense, can't tackle and is slow, but he has a lovely left foot, good passing range and high production level. Playing him as a DM/deep lying midfielder is going against everything he has in his locker and highlights all his weaknesses.

As for Aqua he is a passenger, too tame and weak to control any CM in the premier league, and is always on the outskirts of games IMO. Two very different players
