    Wingers

Is it just me, or are we crying out for genuine pace out wide?

In every team Rodgers has been at previously he's has pacy wide men and for me, I think for us to be successful with him, this is exactly what we need.

I'm not sure Sterling is ready for first team football, but we looked much better when he played and this I think is because his pace offers an outlet. Without this, teams can push up against us, making the midfield congested and difficult to find space in.

What does everyone else think? I guess it'd be less of a problem if we had a striker with electric pace.

Looks like Rodgers will be using Downing in that role this season... Ahem.

Despite his final ball lacking, Sterling offered a lot more than Downing did yesterday IMO. Although he was playing with better players on the pitch for a large part I guess.

But generally speaking, we're not blessed with pace are we? Neither Suarez nor Borini seem particularly electric. Downing has a bit of pace, but that's about it

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I really don't want to see Borini shoved out wide in the 433, and I don't really want Suarez to go out there either - despite the fact he did so well for Ajax from wide positions. Hmm.

If you add (for arguments sake) Dempsey into the picture, then again the lack of pace is evident. Although they can all interchange positions fairly easily making them hard to pick up. We definitely need a pace option though.

Nige, if you're going to be Est1892's pantomime villain, you might need to be a bit more subtle.

I'm not quite sure it's going to be wingers we need.

I think our left side will look like Enrique, Allen, Suarez; we'll be reliant on Enqrique providing the width, Allen dropping over to cover and Suarez being the option. I think we'll have width in spades next season, just maybe not the pace.

                  Something like this:

Johnson, Gerrard and somebody other than Dempsey and I think we'll look healthy on the flanks.

Thought he was very poor though. Awful first touch. Don't know if it's because he isn't fit yet or he was played out of position. BR said that he could play anywhere in the forward positions though. Does not bode well.

We now seem to be linked with Gaitan. Now that would be a signing that would get me aroused

We're crying out for pace and creativity for wide areas, we have been for a while. If you look at our squad that is the one area we seriously lack quality.

I'm not sure what formation we are going with but I think we need at least one such player.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The problem is if we go with 4-3-3 either one of them will have to be shifted out wide or sit on the bench, because with that formation we can only play one through the middle. The only way to accomodate both centrally is to go with two up front (either as a traditional front two or with one playing off the other). I think one of them will have to play in a wide role.

Pacy tricky wingers will propel us up the table.

Ferguson knows that. That is why he keeps on accumulating wingers.
