The only thing we have to work on is that Rodgers has said he hasn't been misled in any way and that there are a few operational issues which need sorting out.

From the outside looking in, it's not great.
I'm not sure they are the kings of spin.

The PR side of things has gone less than well imo. Particularly (but not limited to) the Suarez saga.
    Oh I don't know.

I thought his crack about the Wigan Chairman totally lacked professionalism. Alright, the bloke might be the mouth of the south (or North West) but I expect our Chief Exec to be above retaliating through cheap, snide digs in the media.

And if I'm being honest it's little things like that that concern me about Ayre. The little public slips, the fact that Brendan had to put him right in his welcoming presser. It just seems that he talks and doesn't think about what he's saying. Alright for us on here but not when you're a public figure representing a football club.

I am not a fan of Ian Ayre's Louis Walsh style haircut. He seemed to perform a lot better with a shaved head. I think the hairstyle was designed to go with the career ascent - he grew it after he was promoted. Its like it was his attempt at a big time Charlie footballer cut, but its woefully lacking in style and presence. It actually looks like Wayne Rooney's rug that his head rejected.

A bit like a salesman then, which is his background.

I'm still reserving judgement overall, simply because he hasn't been sacked. FSG know their onions when it comes to the corporate world, and they have shown themselves to be completely ruthless. If he is still here, it is because they want him here imo.

That said, I would hope they find a replacement for him before sacking him.
            Oh I don't know.

A few operational issues ... means management

What annoys me slightly is the only way we are going to close the gap on the teams around us, is being smarter than they are, being clever, out thinking them, out maneuvering them because we certainly cannot out spend them, even if we do have the money, presently we do not know how to spend it.

Most disappointing of all for me, was seeing that Hendo was part of the Dempsey Deal, Hendo had a wonderful season for Sunderland before he came to us, hes young, athletic, with a good football head on his shoulders , surely Rodgers should be looking to extract value out of a player like him.

Either way I think its going to a bumpy ride, lets hope come the end of the season we are firing on all cylinders and moving in the Barca / German National team like direction

You think Henderson being allowed to be part of that deal was Ayre's call? I think it is obvious BR sanctioned that and clearly thinks he is expendable. If we have a good season I will be very sould be surprised to see Henderson here at the start of next, he could even be gone in January in a similar deal.

Fair enough if thats the case .. he could think were do I need most help ... ?? its not the middle of the park .. its up front ... if I have to sacrifice Hendo then so be it

Seems mad though .... to me anyways he seems like a player who has the potential to increase in value .. and is very comfortable in the middle of the park in a CM role, worse case hes a very strong bench option

Must say this concerns me also

Its petty and ****ing pointless and we should be above that - unfortunately it appears Ayre isnt

I think much of football is about fostering relationships with people, Ayre and the club dont seem to be doing that

We rubbed Fulham up the wrong way with how we dealt with Dempsey

So what do you think FSG might see in him?

There has to be something, right?

I agree in part with this but I think being in the role of a football executive is more than this its about having contacts and relationships with other teams

Alienating teams and chairmen isnt going to help you drive a bargain

I do not suspect for one second that FSG/Ayre etc all want nothing but the best for the club, but most of their decision making has not given me much confidence in the direction they are taking us. One saving grace however could be their appointment of BR.

Maybe they would like to re-place him with someone to handle the football side of things, we don't know, trouble is they have no knowledge of who to do it with, and so far their appointments have been mainly ****e.

I think its his commercial nous and probably the ability to talk on a business level that impresses them

As Nicey said and as I have said previously his expertise is in generating commercial revenues

I dont believe his forte is running a football club in the role of CEO or whatever the **** his title is these days

I'd love us to go for someone else and its pretty clear that FSG have approached others with the view to taking the position

So far they havent been successful - maybe they should try a call to Brian Barwick
