Ok I agree with that but Ayre should not be CEO in the long term

We clearly have a problem in this position and it needs addressing almost as urgently as our forward positions on the pitch do

It's a piece of piss to take credit when everything is going well and smoothly.
Well that's what I meant really, honest

What I should have said it that a good CEO doesn't let crises develop into ****storms.

That's a good way of looking at things. Crises happen all the time. Its how they are dealt with, and I don't think Ayre has dealt with these at all well.

We have no knowledge of what he is doing well at though, so I guess that might be one of the things that means he is hanging onto his job.

Commerically the man is excellent and you could see how that would appeal to the yanks.

I can't find the quote but didn't Henry/Werner recently say they thought Ayre was an exceptional MD?

Bale was offered to Cardiff on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the Jan window a couple of seasons ago, didn't happen, chucked him onto the left wing in desperation and hey presto a £40m footballer.

A little like Ferguson's first choice striker target being David Hirst, the steel city shister then goes and does his knee meaning Fergie ends up buying his back up option.

                Eric Cantona

None of this has anything at all to do with Ian Ayre but there we go.

I fully understand your point and football brings up these situations regularly. As others have said, it's how you handle them that matters.

I seem to recall Gareth Bale had the unenviable record of never having been in a winning side for Tottenham a few years ago and I vividly remember Trevor Francis having Cantona on trial at Sheffield Wednesday but deciding he was too slow for the English game!

Didn't Souness pass on signing Cantona also?

we have no concrete knowledge of what he is doing bad at either.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I agree, which is why I have not called for him to be sacked. But we can only comment on what we see. We have seen him make a fool of himself over the 39th game, Dave Whelan and Warrior. I'm sure there are others that people will remember too. But these things we can be sure of are nothing other than PR **** ups. I suppose unless he is effecting FSG's balance sheet negatively they wont be overly fussed about what he is doing wrong.
