My feeling is that Sahin was given the game to get up to speed. I don't think that fact that players who have played several games were rested means that Sahin playing counts him out. The selected team was well balanced and I suspect the 'resting' of Suso was more about getting Downing a game than anything else.

Depends if you want more attacking minded midfielder or not.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostIs there anyone who *wouldn't* start Sahin?
If you do Suso would be more natural fit but if you want deep lying mid than Sahin would be good option.
Personally I think Rodgers will go with Suso just because he played very little last night
Side Note: Suso was in training at Melwood this morning and Sahin wasn't but that may or may not mean much.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

hmm, how do you solve a problem like luis suarez...
he usually comes out wide so he can pick up the ball, then run at the defenders. if he sits in the box he gets defenders all over him, so he will struggle, maybe this is why he feels he can have more influence drifting out wide.
ahh, but now we actually have a couple of wide players who will carry the ball, draw out defenders, and take the pressure off luis.
like the look or Reece's suggested team, but how about playing suarez a little more withdrawn, and allow him to support the attack along side gerrard and sahin, and then have both of them motoring in to the box...
btw, this is where suso would be perfect...
like this;
------------------- Reina ------------------
Johnson--------Coates---Skrtel-----Robinson
--------------------Allen-------------------
----Gerrard--------Suarez---------Sahin----
----Sterling-----------------------Assaidi---removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

But he didn't start in the league cup, that's the point.Originally posted by cream View PostSahin will start ahead of Suso. I think we're getting ahead of ourselves regarding Suso, sub appearances and starts on the COC/Europa are more than enough for him, for now.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'd like to see one of either Wisdom or Robinson come in, I think I'd prefer Robinson as he's a natural LB and Johnson offers more from RB, Agger as long as he's fit if not then it's surely got to be Coates.
Then got the likes of Suso, Henderson, Wisdom & Borini on the bench

Johnson/Wisdom...Skrtel.........Agger/Coates........Johnson/Robinson.

I think Suso, Suarez, Sterling will start but according to Brendan chances are 50/50 that Borini will be ready.Originally posted by clanhuman View PostI think Assaidi and Sahin will be on the bench with Borini, Suarez, Sterling and Suso are our attacking outlet.
Imo even is he is ready he'll be on the bench as he didn't train the entire week (I suppose the same thing can be said about Agger but in Agger's case I think Coates will start and not him).
Morgan didn't play vs WBA and so there is an outside chance that he may be featured instead of Borini as I struggle to see how Sinclair can be ahead of him in packing order coz Rodgers only said the good things about Morgan.
If that is not case it will be interesting if Brendan will consider to play with 4 mids (and bring in Sahin) and push Steve up or bring Assaidi and 3 mids.
Lot of possibilities.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Norwich are playing badly at the moment......they will raise their game against teams like us at home but in general, i reckon we should play our best team and just go for the jugular.....
something like:
-----------------------------REINA------------------------------
JOHNSON------SKRTEL-----------------COATES--------ROBINSON
------------------ALLEN-------------SAHIN----------------------
--------------------------GERRARD------------------------------
STERLING-----------------------------------------------ASSAIDI
--------------------------SUAREZ-------------------------------
What is great is that we will start to have genuine competition for places soon - when players like Shelvey, Lucas etc become available.....
a top top striker and we are cooking on gas......

isn't it great to be lookign forward to seeing us play!!!! Haven't felt like this since the days of Rafa (when we finished 2nd in the league) and before that it was under Roy Evans - when we had the team consisting of Fowler, McManaman, Redknapp, Barnes, McAteer, Rob Jones, Paddy Berger et al....
