i thought we played way too many forward balls that struck udinese players in the second half.

also, as has been said, when you ship 3 goals in a match, you're just not going to win many games. the defense needs sorting out first and foremost for me. then we can work on some of the stupid decisions we make on the attack. these comments probably make me sound more disappointed than i am, but there you go.

downing - england international for 4 years & wahoo he has a game you don't want him hooked.................... cut him open & you'll see yellow.................. i may be old school but give me a team full of players with heart & i'll take it over someonee who has been called out by his manager...................

Gave the ball away with nearly every touch but thinking about it he was probably told to get something happening and things just didn't really come off.

Best thing he did was leaving the free kick to Suarez.

Agreed. Within minutes Gerrard had set them up for a goal scoring break when Henerdson had been tidy pretty much all game. Don't think we would have rallied at the end in the same way without Gerrard on the pitch though.

Wish sometimes our players would turn and attack the spaces instead of passing it back but, on the whole, our passing game is quite exciting.

Also, defensively, we need to take responsibility as a team and cover for each other. First goal, Downing should have gone with the runner although it was Glen Johnson's position.

Always wants to force a through ball when laying it off wide is an easier, better and effective option. Guilty of giving it away for their 3rd goal.

Yes, he did nothing today. Still think he's a decent prospect, but with Sterling on fire I can't help wondering what's the point of him.

EDIT: What a throw away, great first half totally dominated but IMO got too cocky and complacent. We came out for that second half thinking we were cruising and their manager obviously bollocked the **** out of them!

Thought Downing,Shelvey & Henderson did well first half and then when the going got tough they dissapeared. Carra literally is a complete and utter liability in every game, Coates was fantastic but that was a crazy own goal. Downing didn't track Joe Pasquale for the third either. Assaidi looks busy but didn't nothing today not sure about him but very early, Borini made some great runs that were ignored but he really is shocking on the ball. Allen was very poor today.

Suarez completely changed the game when he came on. Di Natalie was phenomenal, what a player. Absolutely gave Carra and Coates the run around, that ball over the top killed us. Anyways another dreadful home result, those red nets are seeing more away glory than home. We have a big problem defensively no matter who plays. I wonder is it because we've been chopping and changing?

Great display but when the going good needs to get out of sight. Same old story but some good stuff. At the moment we are Europa League level that's for sure but a work in progress.

FFS. Second start and he doesn't look fully fit yet. You paid 3m euros for him and he has shown better promise than Downing already
