Thought Shelvey was very good first half, dictated tempo, poor second though. Thought Flanagan did quite well too, as I've pointed out before he's much better going forward than Kelly or Wisdom and therefore is better suited for Rodgers.

I think the lad were all waiting for is ryan mclaughlin.

If he stays clear of injuries theres your right back for the next ten seasons.

Despite what some say to the contrary, Downing is technically very good.

He has this 'thing' where he knocks the ball passed the defender but then delays his cross by a split second which gives the defender a chance to block and defenders to cover the middle. It's annoying when he has actually made the space. He's basically a split second from being very good.

It might be because hes trying to pick somebody out as opposed to just putting it into a danger zone and he gets his head up just before he delivers the final ball.

If thats the case then maybe its a small technical issue that can be corrected on the training ground.

It could also be hes unsure of the patterns of play. Sometimes you just deliver the ball into space and the other players will attack that space. he can deliver the ball into space or pick someone out.

He is frustrating because the potential was there. I say was, because he has had a season and a quarter to prove himself at Liverpool and on all but a few occasions he has proven beyond doubt to be nothing more than a passenger, feint hearted, jumping out of the way of a challenge no mark. I dont think its a big secret that rodgers doesnt rate downing.

Hes made it pretty clear himself.

are we willfully ignoring the chance that suso made for himself and then fell to cole, or did we not all watch that long, or do we just not want to talk about it?
