Pretty good half from most of the players, Downing is out of his depth, and Gerrard is horrible as usual. Complete passenger, ball getting past him, players getting past him, and he just strides along like a lumbering oaf, not bothering to close down any space. In possession, he's wasteful, just doesn't fit a passing side. I honestly think that if we take him off for Shelvey, we become a much better team in every aspect.

We had chances, crossbar, onside goal, great chance for Johnson. Frustrating.

Agreed Gerrard has been anonymous today. Id sub him for Suso.

We should be in the lead, Johnson, Sterling, Suarez and Enrique have been pretty dangerous. I'd rather Suso come on to break them down than Shelvey with the way the games going but that may be a little bit too attacking given we have no real DM on the pitch.

Although Jose has been getting stuck in, I'd much rather he play the overlapping full back role and we stick someone on who has a bit more creativity. Wish BrenRo had the balls to sub Gerrard, he's been crap. Would rather Suso or Shelvey be on.

We're not doing brilliantly and a few players aren't having their best games but overall there's enough positive signs to suggest we should win this one. Could easily have 3 on the board with the quality of the chance and been very unlucky with both the Johnson and Sterling one. I think a goal early in the second half is possible. Perhaps not 100% ideal but I have really liked what Enrique has had to offer in this position.

I must say I'd like to see Gerrard, Downing and one or two others pick it up a bit here for the second half.

Suso, Sahin and Shelvey are in contention for the 2nd half in my opinion. Shame we don't have a decent LB on the bench. Perhaps push Enrique to LB, switch Sterling to LW and bring on Sahin for Downing and Shelvey for Gerrard.
