I can't need to work tomorrow.
    Are we winning?

I thought whilst Allen was very good again especially as he was not supposed to play that role tonight, but hey was again a little wayward with his passing, thought Hendo edged it ..

So, Gerrard. Thought we linked up better from the midfield to the strikers without him. Yes, it was only Udinese but it seemed more fluid. The test would and will be the PL obviously.

Be easier to discuss the match with ratings:

Reina 6 - not much to do
Johnson 6 - Great outlet with a good touch, a bit careless at times if I'm being harsh
Skrtel 8 MOTM - Excellent positioning from crosses to save us and dominant overall
Carra 7 - Some canny shepharding and blocking using all his European experience
Enrique 7 - Getting better and better
Allen 6 - Effective one minute, careless the next. But overall needed him in that middle
Henderson 6 - Absolute key goal. Lots of running but reverted to passing and running behind defenders so wouldn't have the responsibility. Many mis hit passes and some crucial ones which we escaped from
Shelvey 5 - Becoming our new, younger Charlie Adam
Downing 6 - Some good crosses, should have had a goal from at least one of them. Good covering for Enrique too. But his constant inability to show any guts continues to grate on me
Suso 3 - Counted 3 or 4 clear cut chances to score. No confidence at all. Didn't contribute much but its all about learning I guess
Suarez 5 - harsh mark for him but only because of his own high standards. Was a bit hit and miss for our 'most dangerous player' on the pitch
            One tit for another.

Also got a yellow for being out of position, could have led to a goal. And those six misplaced passes were in stupidly bad positions. Stats don't always tell the whole story. But like I said we needed him there overall as he gave us some intelligence. I'm a huge Allen fan so there's no dislike of the guy.

Napoli,Inter,Spurs,Leverkusen,Athletico,Levante,Sp arta Praha,Basel,Stuttgart,Newcastle all finished second place in their groups. This has to be the strongest Europa League yet. Several teams their i'd like us to avoid.

They all did ok - the only ones who stood out were...No, on second thoughts, none of them. Ok, maybe Skrtel and Carragher. But then they didn't have anyone to deal with until the last five minutes and he nearly scored.

Xawy was all right but he's not the Welsh Lucas.

                        • Napoli - Cavani is whom I fear the most
                        • Inter - Without Sneijder they don't worry me too much
                        • Spurs - If we learn from our last game we can win
                        • Leverkusen
                        • Athletico
                        • Levante
                        • Sparta Praha
                        • Basel
                        • Stuttgart
                        • Newcastle - Beatable

Athletico and Spurs for me are the best sides... really would like to avoid Athletico though would be typical if we got them.
