Last year we were not in Europe and rightly went for it. Great to win a trophy, first since 2006 - thanks Kenny. But this year, we don't have the squad. So yes, blessing in disguise.Originally posted by BigChief View PostIs it a blessing in disguise we're out of the Capital/Carling Cup? At first I was gutted, but thinking about the bigger picture we've already won it and it hasn't meant as much as it should. We certainly don't have a squad, including our reserves, that could have benefitted from any further games and now that distraction is over.Forwards.......

I was only going on what I was seeing tbh!! And it looked too easy, especially for Diame to run straight through us almost unchallenged.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostOh come of it mate. It's on the back of a tough tie in Europe and WH were flying after a win against the Chavs.
We've been running on empty fumes for a while now and it's a relieve we've no games in Europe to distract us now.
But by and large, we've dominated games this season, just lacking end product. Even today when you say our midfield was "run over" we still had 60% + possession. Not sure we were that over powered tbh.
The possession stats can also be misleading and I don't really pay much attention to them. I reckon most of that possession is within our own half playing it across the back 4.
Right now for me the results are more important than performances, so I will be happy for us to just keep picking up the points even if we are not playing well overall."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

It doesn't matter if we have possession in our own half as long as the opposition don't have the ball.Originally posted by Tee View PostI was only going on what I was seeing tbh!! And it looked too easy, especially for Diame to run straight through us almost unchallenged.

Yes they did, but lets not be blinkered in our view of our possession stats with this current team. We are a long way from where we need to be. However, with the personnel we have I think it is understandable.Originally posted by Nigey View PostNo it doesn't because we're trying to score not pass the ball to each other for the sake of it.

I don't think we controlled the game today but with most other games this season we have controlled the game but just didn't take our chances.Originally posted by Imy View PostEven with all the possession I don't feel like we're controlling the game. Agree with Tee we give the ball up and the opposition are right at our defence and at the rate we concede shots/goals we're soon in trouble.

This is the problem, we have the ball...pass pass pass pass..then we lose it, one long ball or run through the middle and we are stretched, panicking to clear it.
We need better movement and forward options to give the man in possession. We need to improve our pass and move football. Right now it is just pass pass pass but with very little movement and penetration in the right areas of the pitch."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." We'll be alright.
I think so as well.
But it does not mean we cannot come on here and discuss performances good or bad does it? Which is the feeling I get. Actually think twice before posting anything negative now.
