What impressed me the most today, was Rodgers ability to make the most of what he got.
No Suarez, no striker, late return from Italy, early injury for Enrique, a very unfortunate handball, an unlucky own goal... **** hand he was dealt, really...
...but a decent lineup, shrewd substitutions that made a difference and some tactical adjustments during the game. It all goes some way to convince me that he indeed IS the man to take us forward.
The transfer window will be very interesting IMO.
I don't know why some think we are skint - I haven't seen anything to suggest that...

I'm talking mainly about those ricochets that will take it off a defender and there will be a scrap for it. People being in the right place at the right time to feed off the scraps. The more you have in the box, the more likely someone will be on the end of it.Originally posted by Nigey View PostIt's about the right ball in the box, not the number of players in there.

I'm not gonna quote as I don't want people to feel like they're being targeted. I appreciate all views on this site as it makes a debate, which is the point of this.
But I have to make this point. I actually think some people have their eyes closed watching games this season. At the start of the season we were easily played through.
But we are much improved now. Are defence is starting to be much meaner, and that comes from the team knowing when to press. We are also seeing far less mistakes in possession of the ball. Yes, they're still there.
And they always will be to some extent. Passing the ball at the back under pressure is akin to playing with fire. But you know what? I like it.
Midtable results they have been at times. But midtable performances? No ****ing way my friends. Give us a cutting edge and we CAN do big things.
What a manager we have people. This football will get us places.Forwards.......

Yes to an extent it's true but I think we need to have a balance somewhat and be precise with our final ball rather than trying to play the percentages.Originally posted by clanhuman View PostI'm talking mainly about those ricochets that will take it off a defender and there will be a scrap for it. I share your optimism. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I disagree, they had us under pressure for long periods. At times we defended for out lives. They controlled the midfield and Carlton Cole gave our CB's a nightmare. If Diame hadn't of went off IMO we wouldn't have won he dominated the game..... but alas we got 2 sucker goals and some luck, take that.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostThey weren't better than us. Even game on the balance of it I thought.
Couple more wins and we're looking good.Last edited by danperkins; 09-12-12, 10:37 PM.

Your constantly telling everyone to stop saying we are unlucky and that we just need to buck up. But now you think we were lucky. You can't have it both ways. Bad luck happens, same with good.Originally posted by danperkins View PostI disagree, they they had us under pressure for long periods. At times we defended for out lives. Ohh and Henderson has looked alright since your critique the other day
*Except Michael, who died.

Made up with the 3 points but didn't enjoy the actual match. After the first 15 minutes which we dominated the WH players started to quickly close our lads down and we couldn't handle the pressure at all, Diame going off was the turning point without question I seriously doubt we would have won without that happening.
Today also highlighted once again how threadbare we are in attacking areas, we need a big transfer window next month, we need at least 1 striker(probably 2) and a pacy forward.
Still, very pleased with the win and as others have pointed out we're 4 points off 4th place and 7 points off 3rd with some winnable games coming up.

Let's not go beating each other off just yet. Nature of the win was great - but it's another step forward, nothing more or less.
I'm happy with the way things have gone overall. It's not been perfect but we've no right to expect plain sailing, and our trajectory in terms of performance looks pretty decent. Let's keep building, fingers crossed some movement in January can help our cause

I found this pretty interesting..Originally posted by Imy View PostEven with all the possession I don't feel like we're controlling the game. Agree with Tee we give the ball up and the opposition are right at our defence and at the rate we concede shots/goals we're soon in trouble.
32.4 1st Half Poss. 67.6
40.7 2nd Half Poss. 59.3
We had much more possession first half yet conceded 2 and only scored 1
Although dominant, we had less possession in the 2nd half and conceded 0 yet scored 2
Possession is far from everything, it's about where we have it on the pitch and how we use it.Vive la France
