All Reina had to do was catch crosses all game. Which he coped with well I thought. Did he actually make a save of note? Some good interceptions & blocks by Skrtel & Agger, but Hyypia and Carra were even better at those than either of them.Originally posted by Redspin View PostWell as three of those goals game from a deflected free-kick (perhaps wrongly given), a debatable penalty and an own goal I don't see too much cause for concern. Reina wasn't too troubled by anything West Ham created in open play. In fact he had very little to doForwards.......

That would have to be your best, most sensible post EVER.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostI don't know what you expected. It was always going to be a mess. Taking shots at him after a few games because the results were bad, as though they outweighed the more encouraging signs, was premature and partial.
The end of the world must be getting closer.

Holy ****. Another one.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostYou expected it? Or you hoped for it? It seems to strange to me to attack the manager for not getting the team to perform better in the first few games than one can rightfully expect, which is what punching above their weight means. It would have been nice but I don't think we can really have demanded it.
It was a poor start but there were other signs as I said, and it doesn't make sense just to judge him by results after just a few games.
Of course Rodgers' time in charge has been mixed so far but I don't think there's ever been a good case to date for saying the bad outweighs the good.

I think people are being harsh on our midfield. Teams know we will play three there and you can clearly see they press higher to get men around our centre backs and deeper midfielders. Which is fine, we're getting around it through Agger/Skrtel bringing the ball out and through Johnson (mainly-its no wonder the season he is having) and it seems to work. It's not as if we're aimlessly passing it around the back 4, there's plenty of purpose to our play. That's not to say we bypass midfield because we don't at all. I think things will improve massively once Lucas had a run of games defensively specifically but offensively too. We are crying out for someone more mobile though which is why Henderson is looking impressive atm, but we do need a Momo type (who can actually pass). Yaya Toure anyone?
