Ignoring the results for a moment and looking at the football being played under Kenny, then under Rodgers, do you think there has been anything different?

I hate the argument if we would have put away more chances then we would be challenging for the top four the reason being that finishing is a part of the game in the same way defending is.Originally posted by Alex View PostEveryone one I speak too seems to think we would be challenging for top 4 if we could put away more chances. Saturday was just a long line in those sorts of games.
Obviously our finishing is down to more than bad luck though. So I dont know the answer.
If you miss a lot of chances then it isn't down to bad luck or anything like that. It is down to that you aren't good enough scoring goals.
In our case IMO it is down to tactics and the type of players we have. Suarez is the only player we have that you could expect score the easy goals, tap ins etc.....
Sturridge isn't that type of player.
Our tactics isn't to get many players in the box and that means that we won't get many easy goals.
We need an out and out goal scorer and we need to change tactics so we get more players in the box.Stop the cyberhate

In the second half of the season we have done pretty much as well as anyone but United I would have thought. There is a real danger of over exaggerating out faults because of frustrating games.
For me we still need more goal threats in the team/squad. Much of United's success seems to come down to the fact that if one forward is having an off day Fergusson has 3 more to throw into the mix. Arsenal and City also have good options (although City have IMO looked less potent without Balotelli in the mix this season). We aren't in a position to just go out and buy that in all in one go though so a bit of patience is needed.
I think anyone looking at the performance this season as an end in itself is being too short termist. For me it is whether we are in a better position to build on next year than we were at the start of this. I believe we are. Certainly the purchases of Sturridge and Coutinho are big positives and we now have a style of play well established and at least in that regard we are consistent."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

The 5 games with no wins at the start of the season when we were getting used to the new style of play is what really hurt us.
The squad is more familiar with the style Brendan wants and I think that with defenders more suited to holding a high line we will push on enough to challenge for top 4.

I believe that depends on if Suarez stays or not. If he stays then we are in a better position and if he leaves then we are back on square one again.Originally posted by dww View PostIn the second half of the season we have done pretty much as well as anyone but United I would have thought. I would even say that it was then a mistake to sign up Rodgers a manager that you knew would need time to turn around the ship instead of someone like Pellegrini that would most probably make a much bigger impact straight away. A mistake that cost us Suarez.Stop the cyberhate

So if Suárez leaves it's going to be because FSG appointed Rodgers. That's good, Mostar can design the T-shirt in advance so we can get them printed as soon as Luis signs for Man United.Originally posted by Arn View PostI believe that depends on if Suarez stays or not. Out of interest, how do you go about lining up your arguments in advance like that? Do you work out which worst-case scenario might shine the worst possible light on your favourite targets or do you do it the other way around or is it a more fluid process where each informs the other and builds up to a crescendo of doom?Last edited by Neil Young; 16-04-13, 09:42 AM..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards .
I wasn't overly impressed with br being signed but will support him until he has a fair crack at it .
As a person who goes the match I would say the team looks more like a unit this term in the last 6-7 games we have played some excellent football but just havnt been clinical in front of goal , I would say another player of philipo pedigree and a leader at the back and we shall progress next season , we might not finish in a higher position because other teams will hope to progress but as long as we are going in the right direction that will do me .
My only gripe is we don't take cup and Europa seriously , this as a paying fan offends me I want to go to every game possible and see the best team possible play , not all this saving it for the prem bs

I have been offered 3 season tickets for next season already so this shows fans don't think progress will be made anytime soon , it's not a financial issue as I know these people they just said they need a break from it all for a season or two , these arnt fair weather fans either just fed up especially with a £70 price hike
