I've always believed you need luck to be successful. Throughout the whole game yesterday I got the same feeling of it not being our day as we've seen in previous seasons.

When we conceded the penalty I thought to myself, this is it, in previous seasons we'd concede and lose valuable points. Hopefully yesterday's fortune at the end is a sign of things to come for the team and club.

there's nothing like a confidence building win to flush out a lurker.

Hahaha, I managed to find out what is outside my bedroom from my old KT days and 10,000 posts a day.

Totally agree. That sort of thing never really seems to happen to us on the first day. That in this case our overall good performance was actually rewarded with a result could really set the tone of the season. We've got a week now to prepare for Villa, who play Chelsea in the interim, if we can get a result there too, well I'm not sure how as a fanbase we'll be able to handle a wave of optimism for once

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I thought Lucas was immense yesterday and his goal line clearance has gone a little under the radar with Mignolet's excellent double save from the penalty. He is critical to the way we play under Rodger's and his often underrated passing was sublime today.

A little harsh on Sturridge, scored the winning goal and who's goal's record for us is the epitome of clinical.

Little confused when some of the negativity towards Enrique, I thought he had a good game and was very strong defensively and nearly score. Yes, he wasted one good position by needlessly hammering the ball across but apart from that I struggle to find fault with his performance.

All in all, a very promising start with beautiful football at times; we got nervous towards the end but that is to be expected. I hope Mignolet can now push on with that penalty save and grow in confidence. We are still a very young team who can only get better and gain belief and with further additions we might surprise a few people.

Nothing really changed from last season so far. The same problems in attack and defense but three points is three points.

What I'm worried about is how tired we looked the last 15 minutes or so. We still have a very big problem to control a game.

Coutinho is really a fantastic excellent player. Should have had three or four assists yesterday. Wouldn't even sell him for £50m.

I said that he is better than players like Silva and Mata. I still stand by that statement.

The ref was again **** yesterday so nothing changed there. How on earth Nzonzi didn't get a red card is joke.

What impressed me yesterday was that the majority of our strikes were on target. Begovic had a worldie.

I wasn't able to watch the match live but having seen it since here are my thoughts: For me it seemed like a typical LFC performance, play well in an attacking sense, get a goal up, find ourselves unable to get the second, have a few shaky moments at the back and almost throw the lead away. Fortunately Mignolet saved the penalty (which as many people are saying could be a huge moment for him), he looked uncomfortable up to that point, hopefully that was just a few debut nerves and he will settle down.

I was impressed with Toure and his ability in the air, but I think the defence as a unit didn't look good, this area certainly needs to be improved, again whether this is a cohesion thing and it will improve as they play together more.

I thought the attacking side played really well and it was only thanks to their goalkeeper that we didn't win a lot more comfortably. That said we need to find our way past these keepers who always seem to have the game of their lives against us.

We deserved to win the game and if their penalty had gone in at the end that would have been really unlucky for us.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Rubbish there is a two point change from last season and our first win over Stoke in the Premiership era (including Rafa's reign).

We had a player with Sturridge's ability to score the winning decisive goal and a keeper like Mignolet to save a game winning penalty.

                            They are facts, no?

I'm not sure there was anything negative to take from the game yesterday, we won on the first day of the season since the 08/09 season, kept a clean sheet, looked pretty effective in the attacking 3rd and should have had more goals.

We've still got some more signings coming in to strengthen further so all in all we should be pretty pleased with the performance and the result itself.

The only negative was our apparent vulnerability to set pieces. We looked very shakey and I was ****ting myself everytime they won a free kick or corner.
