Need to hold onto the ball for the first 15 mins of 2nd half and wear them out. Third difficult game in a week, they'll be there for the taking.

Villa have not kept a clean sheet in their last 25 league games.

Yep, if we can keep it tight for the first 20 there will be some big gaps for us to exploit

We looked comfortable for most of that half, we lost our shape for the last 5 minutes and Agger looked like an Arsenal defender on a couple of occasions. Not to sure why Gerrard was letting a ball bounce in our box either, sort that out and it would have been a near perfect half.

You can see the reason Rodgers wants a wider player, we do lack someone that can beat a man and give us extra width at times.

The first 30 minutes we controlled; we were patient and methodical in our approach. We proved to be quite well organised - more so when we have time to sort out our shape - but if a team puts us on the back-foot we're all at sea. It's almost like we revert to school yard footy chasing after the football.

Clattenburg set the tone with the unnecessary booking of Aspas, which in turn meant he had to book Delph. Johnson was the only one deserving of a yellow card.

Villa have clearly identified Coutinho as the threat and are quick to put him under pressure, yet he still finds pockets of space. Lucas looks back to his best and Sturridge continues to prove me wrong.

One nil at half time is well deserved, but I would very much like the security of another goal as I never feel confident that we can keep a clean-sheet.

As for this Sky letsgatherroundthesofachat ... well, it's just plain awful.

Need to push on and get a second, they will tire quickly after midweek so that should wrap it up

First 35 was excellent. Not seen us pass the ball and keep control like that for a while. Great to see, maybe not for a neutral tho

                      Sturridge is brilliant

Let them back into it far too much leading up to the break though and 1-0 doesn't look enough if we carry on like this
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

There's 2 such players on the bench. Sterling & Ibe.

Need to be as clinical in the second half as we were in the first. Had a couple chances, scored one.

Well, they're having to compete with BT Sport nowadays.........which TBH, says more about Sky Sports than BT Sport.
