Ruthless but absolutely right. I was concerned with Mignolet because he's not commanding in the box and he could improve with the ball at feet, but my god he's outstanding at shot stopping, which is the bread and butter for a goalkeeper.Originally posted by dom9 View PostGood innit - particularly with just about everyone questioning why he was needed. Ruthless from Brendan in shipping Pepe out.

I thought Agger looked shaky at times today, overall though we defended as a unit.Originally posted by john316 View PostEvery player looked like they knew what to do defensively. First time I can honestly say that in 4-5 years which is a really good sign for me. Toure is looking an absolute steal though for us. Need to keep him fit but him vs Van Persie next week should be fantastic!Vive la France

I thought Sturridge was fantastic today, by the way. The goal was obviously a moment of brilliance but he also worked hard and was occasionally quite clever in buying us possession and breathing room late. He's had a lot of great games in a red shirt but this was eye-opening in a way we hadn't seen him play: there was no profligacy - it was one half-chance, one shot, one goal, plus a lot of defensive work in our own half when we needed him.
Less impressed with Aspas, though it's still early. Seems to me a flat track bully more than someone who can stamp his authority on a game like this - which is fine, but it means we need to get that type of player in. Imagine we will do, mind.

Villa were much better second half and that's a bit worrying although they are a much better side than laat year. Their fitness levels impressed me because in theory our lads should have been fresher.
I dont like the sterile domination approach because I dont think it works that well and we don't have enough intelligent players who can vary the tempo of the play as required. Second half was too slow and villa were unlucky not to get a point.
But six points from six is a brilliant feeling.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Although i think Aspas has shown enough quality to show that he will be an effective sub, Which will be mainly his role once Suarez is back.

Good win away from home and a clean sheet you can't ask for much more than that.
It would have been nice if we could have got a second goal when we were on top, we can see that there are still areas that need strengthening and I hope we continue to pursue targets and can bring in a couple more players before the window 'slams shut'.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
