Ruthless but absolutely right. I was concerned with Mignolet because he's not commanding in the box and he could improve with the ball at feet, but my god he's outstanding at shot stopping, which is the bread and butter for a goalkeeper.

Good momentum for the Mancs next Sunday as well, hopefully we'll see them get given a going over tomorrow evening as well.
Or 7 games to look at it another way

I thought Agger looked shaky at times today, overall though we defended as a unit.

I thought Sturridge was fantastic today, by the way. The goal was obviously a moment of brilliance but he also worked hard and was occasionally quite clever in buying us possession and breathing room late. He's had a lot of great games in a red shirt but this was eye-opening in a way we hadn't seen him play: there was no profligacy - it was one half-chance, one shot, one goal, plus a lot of defensive work in our own half when we needed him.

Less impressed with Aspas, though it's still early. Seems to me a flat track bully more than someone who can stamp his authority on a game like this - which is fine, but it means we need to get that type of player in. Imagine we will do, mind.

Job done. 3 more points and just the start of the season we needed. Bring on the scum.

Villa were much better second half and that's a bit worrying although they are a much better side than laat year. Their fitness levels impressed me because in theory our lads should have been fresher.

I dont like the sterile domination approach because I dont think it works that well and we don't have enough intelligent players who can vary the tempo of the play as required. Second half was too slow and villa were unlucky not to get a point.

But six points from six is a brilliant feeling.

Although i think Aspas has shown enough quality to show that he will be an effective sub, Which will be mainly his role once Suarez is back.

                      3 points again!

Going away to Villa is not easy with their front three and I am very very impressed that we kept a clean sheet again! Thought Mignolet, back 4 and Gerrard/Lucas did a good job. Great play from Sturridge for the goal

If we get can 7 points from our next three fixtures, top 4 will look a good possibility.

I thought Gerrard was fantastic.....and , with all due respect, theres no way Reina makes them saves particularly the first save.

Good win away from home and a clean sheet you can't ask for much more than that.

It would have been nice if we could have got a second goal when we were on top, we can see that there are still areas that need strengthening and I hope we continue to pursue targets and can bring in a couple more players before the window 'slams shut'.

Villa will be a good team this season. This is a great win for us. There will not be too many teams who will come away with a result here. Lambert was a good manager at Norwich and after a rocky start last season, he will prove himself to be a good manager again
