I'm delighted we managed to grind out the win in the end. Very concerned about our defence, but in terms of controlling the game on and off the ball, it was very good to see.

Great 3 points, second half performance was poor though. Sturridge & Kolo were outstanding, Mignolet good too. Kolo covered for Agger (makes so many defensive mistakes) so many times, as did Gerrard for Lucas... who had a nightmare game. Enrique was decent.

Though Coutinho,Aspas & Henderson weren't great, Coutinho is so much better playing central. I hate it so much when we sit deep and invite pressure on, we could hardly string a pass together the whole second half.

Anyways grinder out another 1-0.. 3 points happy days but we really need some players in if we want to challenge over the course of the season.

Still though a win is a win.

Yep, I would be happy with a season full of ugly wins

We've got Suarez to come back in and I am sure we'll see a big signing before the close of the window as well.

Villa are going to be a tough side to beat this season IMO really good result and we've now played two sides who have big strong guys that historically we've struggled against and come away with 2 wins and a 2 clean sheets.

Good result and decent performance, was nice to see how comfortable we were defensively with Mignolet only needing to make two saves. Our form has been immense for quite a long time now in the league.

Watched the game with no sound in southern belle, fulham...2nd half did seem like we kept giving the ball away.
