Because he's ****ing bossOriginally posted by Nigey View PostWhy would you want to get another Steven Gerrard? It will be a different player with different qualities. That kind of comparison is pointless to be honest. Absolutely pointless.

Sure, but Stevie has pretty much the whole package, 9s in all categories, probably with the exception of dribbling. I'd love to find another equivalently skilful/strong/technically gifted leader but it isn't going to happen unfortunately. Better teams than us have failed to find one.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Nobody will ever be like Steven Gerrard. He's one of a kind. There may be players out there, or players of the future who share similarities with Gerrard's style of play but I'm privileged to say I've watched one of the worlds greatest midfielders play.
It will be a sad day when he leaves, but, just like with Carragher we have evolved.

I just hope we don't lumber anyone coming through with the "new Gerrard" thing in a desperate attempt to grasp onto something that has been and gone. Gerrard is phenomenal, he's managed to reinvent himself and this season has been like a new signing - to get that kind of athletic dynamism in his youth and peak years to an intelligent metronomic, pace dictating midfielder shows just how great he is and was - that versatility comes along once in a generation.
The new Maradona thing plagued Argentinian football for 25 years until Messi came along - none of them could carry the pressure and expectation until Messi arrived (the horrible, vole, bullying *******).
I hope we just get behind boss new players and accept them for what they are. Some even said Shelvey was the new Gerrard, ffs.

Not so sure he's what we need, even if he does look in good shape this year.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostPerhaps our next great thing will be Brendan Rodgers? If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
