Oh, and Ashley Williams is the biggest cunt of all IMO - took out Coutinho and that made his night easier the big oaf. So so so glad we never signed him.
really, really frustrating. Our midfield doesn't seem to be very good at holding on to the ball when we're under pressure. Surely a minimum for any team who wants to play a possession game. I don't even know who the culprit is either. Gerrard, coutinho and Lucas are all good on the ball

A point and going top again was acceptable considering the state of our squad tonight -
Suarez, Agger, Johnson - Unavailable
Toure - Still recovering from injury
Coutinho - Injured during game
Sakho - Zero PL experience
Skrtel - Barely played over the last 6 months or so
That's 5 players missing who would normally start for us, at a tough place like Swansea a point was acceptable, once those players come back in (esp Luis) we'll be flying I think.

I'd love to see him there but I don't think his body will let him. You say he isn't fit enough to be a deep midfielder, but the free role surely involves more high intensity play which is enough tougher on the body.Originally posted by Arn View PostWell, I think that you have a clue. Rodgers should play Gerrard in the same position that Rafa did, a free attacking position.
Henderson and Lucas in midfield.

I thought we were doing fine while Coutinho was on and Gerrard as the link but we seemed to get very erm..what's the word..can't think! Our formation was more rigid and flatter is what I mean, less passing options.
I wouldn't like to see Coutinho being moved anyhow.Sack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

ThisOriginally posted by ChesterDave View PostI though Sakho was very poor tonight. Noticeably one-footed. Criminally one-footed almost.
Game changed after Couthino went off.
Hope Sakho gets a few more weeks training before we see him in a red shirt again. Based on today he's going to need time to settle.
Also hope Coutinho is OK, it was so clear how much we fell apart when he went off, I knew he was a great individual player but I hadn't realized how much he is the glue holding the team together until tonight.

In retrospect, I think Rodgers should have moved Gerrard into this position tonight after Coutinho went off - he would have offered more than Aspas. I think Allen would have been a much better player to bring on as he would have allowed Gerrard to take up Countinhos position and helped us to keep possession better in the middle - not sure why he wasn't even on the subs bench though.Originally posted by Arn View PostWell, I think that you have a clue. I felt Rogers made the wrong decision bringing on Aspas I think it would have been better to bring on Alberto and retain possession and not sit so deep and allow Swansea to attack like they did.
Still top of the league after 4 games and Southampton at home on Saturday then Luis is back

3 wins and a draw from our first four games, best team in the league thus far, top of the league table. God help us when we lose!
But yeah a winning team was broken up through injuries, Sturridge is very very greedy at times, although he is scoring the goals he's also costing us a few imo.
Completely lost our shape after Coutinho went off. Doubt we will see a worst second half performance than that this season. Oh a and Gerrard is half the player after international duty and I fear he is asking too much of his body at his age, another serious injury could finish him.
Aspas needs a 16 week course of anabolic steroids.
Toure is ****ing boss and should be first choice Saturday.

Suarez coming back is like the cavalary .such a huge boostOriginally posted by Vermilion View PostTeams are going to target Cout for some rough treatment from now on, imo, it's so glaringly obvious he binds the team together, keeps it ticking over.
Luckily for us we have Suarez coming back, so they'll have a whole lot more to think about.
