that wasn't conjecture man. he said allen is his deputy, meaning rogers likes to play him there when the cout isn't playing. you might not agree with brennie's reasoning, but it's certainly nothing to do with danny or his point.Last edited by little dave hedgehog; 21-09-13, 06:12 PM.dave of mutilation

Today our lack of key players evened things out. The game had a feel of a 1-0 to it. When level I think chances created were fairly even - Nothing from either side tbh.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View Post
I'm just looking at how we could have done better given the situation, I missed the penalty appeal but that would have changed it a bit for us as well. We've ridden our luck at times this season though so it was coming from that point of view, you can't always get decisions because the refs in this league are ****, you cannot depend on them for results and we shouldn't at home to Southampton no matter how decent they are.
I always remember Mourinhos Chelsea side when he first came in. Used to win 1-0 so often through being the better side at set pieces. With four CB'S I'd hoped that was us today.Forwards.......

Just wondering, if Allen is considered back up for Coutinho, which he may well be who do we actually have covering Gerrard and Lucas?Originally posted by little dave hedgehog View Postthat wasn't conjecture man. he said allen is his deputy, meaning rogers likes to play him there when the cout isn't playing. you might not agree, but it's certainly nothing to do with danny or his point.

I missed that earlier reply, but basically I think Allen was deployed there in pre season and did well, and he'd be a better fit than Aspas or Alberto who are new to the league.Originally posted by little dave hedgehog View Postthat wasn't conjecture man. he said allen is his deputy, meaning rogers likes to play him there when the cout isn't playing. you might not agree, but it's certainly nothing to do with danny or his point.

Knock United out the cup and we'll be back on a high, if we want to push for a CL place though we need to improve massively on today, there will be times during the season when we have players missing.Vive la France

I think the idea of Rodgers is we have players who are adaptable.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostJust wondering, if Allen is considered back up for Coutinho, which he may well be who do we actually have covering Gerrard and Lucas?
But I think tbf, most of us have said all summer that we should buy a new DM.Forwards.......

We'll always have players missing, just hopefully not all in the same positions! We have depth in all positions pretty much, but it stands to reason that if you're two first choice RB'S and LB's as well as their deputies are not fit to start, we will have problems there. Any team would.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostThe fact we had 4 CB's on though we were bound to concede from a set peice weren't we

In fairness it was hardly a nightmare like in the past when Skrtel played there because others refused. Today was just disjointed in too many areas.Forwards.......

Its a loss, I'll live with it but I still think Rodgers got it wrong today.
For me Sakho is no where near ready to start in the team and playing 4 center backs in defense showed. I think at least one of Kelly or Enrique should have started and that might have helped join up the play more.
And I don't know who was supposed to be playing the 10 role but they didn't!
TBF the players didn't help Rodgers. The passing at the back was scary and I saw terrible passes from Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson all game long.
I'd love to know the pass complete numbers for today. Surely the worse of the season?

the whole concept of us playing a pressing game was absent today.
with no proper wing backs we didnt have the right lads on the pitch to play a defensive/counter attack system.
oh rodgers. get the dossier out
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Surely its basically what Coutinho was doing.Originally posted by cream View PostWe don't have a number 10 role.
The link between midfield and attack, working in that space.
The biggest thing lacking today was the link between defense and midfield with having no one that could/or would run out with the ball and then no one to help with the link up between midfield and attack like Coutinho does.
Might not be drawn out on the chalk board on Telly as a number 10 but that's basically what he does isn't it?
