Yup, all fair points really. The tempo was a big worry from yesterday the whole team just looked lethargic and off the pace all game.

We have 4 fullbacks injured or recovering.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostUnbelievable that with all the defenders we've got at the club at the moment we're having to put together a makeshift back 4.
Need Cissokho back to challenge Enrique and got to hope Johnson isn't out for the full 10 weeksWas muß, das muß.

Priceless
Our first loss in a competitive game since March actually, a fact which will be ignored by many on here I'm sure. Joint first despite having our talisman unavailable and our squad being ****ed with a ****load of injuries, that's not too bad for a team that finished 7th last season.
Oh well, anyway RODGERS OUT.

He should have started with three at the back. When you don't have a single fit enough right/left back then you play three at the back. We didn't had the players to play the system we played yesterday.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostWhich was my point (probably not worded well)
Not really sure what else BR could have done with the defence other than go to 3 at the back in a formation we don't play in
We have all moaned but in the end it all comes down to that Rodgers ****ed it up big time. He will learn and most probably not make the same mistake again.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

Somethings not right but we are missing Suarez, coutinho, Johnson and their loss would affect any team.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostPoor performance all over the park today, not sure I've seen us pass this badly as a side for god knows how long and we seemed to just lack a bit of energy and urgency as well.
Putting it in perspective though we are missing 3 key players at the moment in Johnson, Suarez and Coutinho and have had to play a patched up back 4 yet again.
You can't defend the performance I guess but it's our first loss in the league this season and whilst I'm very disappointed 10 points from 5 games I'm sure I'd have taken before the stat of the season.
Need a bounce back now against the Mancs in the LCAll of this.Originally posted by baronvonskidmark View PostIt's only our first defeat of the season, so not the end of the world. We are in a good position 10 points from our first 5 games is a decent return, especially with Suarez to return.
Not scoring yesterday was always possible. Personally I think that we should not look at the opposition as 'just Southampton' but one of the best defensive teams in the league so far - better than Arsenal, United and Chelsea (off the top of my head). We have 2 of our best 3 attacking players out for differing reasons (you could also arguably include Johnson in this), one of whom is one of the best players in Europe. I think that if you stick Coutinho in to link play and Suarez in to create/score and combine with Sturridge, then the attacking threat is massively improved.
For me the most disappointing aspect of the game yesterday was that we conceded from a corner - with Toure, Skrtel, Agger and Sahko on the pitch. This really should not have happened. But 10 points so far - including an away win at Villa and beating United - and the return of Suarez leaves us in a decent position imo.
If we continue with an average of two points a game, that will be enough to secure Champions League football. Which, whilst it was nice to be top of the league, was our original target.

I agree with this but not as drastic as to send out a SOS but he would be ideal , Alberto must surely be close to a spot now and Kelly is a must for Mancs at RBOriginally posted by Bender View PostSuso is the player we needed yesterday could have played the Coutinhio role....... send out the sosYou Can Lead A Horse To Water , But A Pencil Must Be Lead!
