Let's be fair, we're two pints of the top (likely) thanks to a run of form without one of our key players. He's back next week & I fully expect us to start ramping up our performances.

Also key to note is that IMO we can get results with one of Coutinho, Danny or Luis missing. As long as we have two of those starting we are a threat and a good bet to challenge for fourth.

Really? Name one midfielder we have in the team who has been seen consistently creating chances for our front line without Coutinho or performing at a decent level beyond the halfway line. We have no midfield craft without Coutinho.

We'd be much better with an extra midfielder instead of an extra centre back IMO. That's my issue with 3 at the back. In fact, when we did that, I thought we played much better.

Err there's a bloke called Gerrard who's probably in the PL's all time top 10 for assists - possibly top 5 who played in our midfield last time I looked.

TBH we weren't great today and a draw after playing against 10 men for the best part of an hour is always disappointing.

However 23 shots 13 corners and Luis hitting the bar hints at the fact the rub of the green wasn't really with us.

Sturridge had a couple of decent chances as well and Krul saved from Suarez a couple of times.

We certainly need a rethink of the midfield balance or the formation which facilitates it. We get under the cosh much too easily.

I used to make well thought out posts but that season drove me into regression. Then I got lazy and used to it, acquired a reputation of someone who doesn't know **** all about football after a few shockers (even if many of my lazy one liners end up being a consensus after six months, it's forgotten ) but I haven't recovered since. Me not rating Lucas is basically the deal breaker.

Maybe I'm past my best and should retire, or get back to a regimen of writing only posts that have at least two paragraphs in them.
