A big problem for me yesterday, which I thought was glaringly obvious, was that when Sturridge/Suarez pressed their back 4 the gap behind them was enormous because our midfield we're too focused on not leaving any room for Ozil/Cazorla/Rosicky.

This just allowed their defender to pop the ball to Arteta who had all the time in the world to then pick a pass. He pretty much ran the game yesterday.

We were outclassed by a better team, and that's it really.

Back down to earth, and onto the next game and picking up another 3 points.

While I felt our midfield was dire yesterday, they were given the run around by the fullbacks (especially Cissohko) who didn't offer much going forwards or backwards, or offer much of a passing option.

Just looking at man of match thread. I know that most were very poor yesterday but having Henderson in the top 3 is ridiculous lads.

He was good when we didn't have the ball. We have to nominate a second and third, and yesterday gave us an absolute dearth of options.

IMO he did ok in the first 10 mins some good work but genuinely thought he did another disappearing act, completely bypassed same as Lucas & Stevie (Actually thought Stevie was the worst player on the pitch after maybe Cissoko). Obviously i'm not a huge fan of Hendo... do even though he has done ok this season to be fair. I just don't see it with the lad.. he has no presence in a CM. As a squad player i have no issues.. as a first teamer in a side looking to challenge for 4th spot... not a chance.

But IMO if we want to have any chance of challenging for 4th.. we need better than better than what we have now. I know Lucas have a big following on here but he hasn't played consistently well since his injury. Always a worry coming back from such horrendous injury. he was never fast.. but he looks a yard slower these days.

I just think that we look slow, timid & **** ourselves when heavily pressed in possession.

                  Cissoko-Henderson-Lucas-Gerrard-Flan

The midfield five offered absolute nothing yesterday, I'm surprised we didn't get hammered by a bigger margin.

Ideally, you'd want to see only one, maybe two of them in the starting line-up.

I'm not even that angry about it...we got completely outclassed by a better side.

                      can't argue with that

I agree about the early warning signs for Cissokho. I know he seriously lacks match fitness but I'm pretty glad we only have him on loan. As always, I look forward to him proving me wrong.

I don't want us spending a penny on Hughes or anymore 18-21 year old kids with ''potential'', in recent years we've spent an absolute fortune on those types of player (Shelvey, Wilson, Henderson, Texeira, Yesil, Coates, Allen, Borini, Alberto and Ilori) and not not one of them has come good. Some might argue Henderson has but 16m for a utility player that is ''decent'' in all departments isn't value for money IMO. Coutinho is the exception and I would say he doesn't fall into that category of player as he had already proved himself at Inter and Espanyol IMO.
We need established quality now that will either go straight into the first 11 or at the very least put pressure on the likes of Lucas and Gerrard who have both been guaranteed starters for far too long now.

Is it possible for us to be 8th after next weeks games??

Beaten by a better team. It's half what I expected. We were good for periods which is promising. But in others we looked lacking. Hopefully Rodgers learns and moves on.

                              Next game please.

Spot on mate. Lucas has not had any competition since mash left.
