4th place is realistic. If manure step it up and we go on a bad run they could even pip us to that so let's not get carried away.

I'm not sure Chelsea have the best manager tbh, they also have a very good squad with excellent attacking players and a good depth.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostWe're still flawed, especially when it comes to depth, but other sides have issues as well. The next 3 games will tell a lot.
City are the best team. Chelsea have the best manager. Arsenal have more of a stable system and foundations.
I think this title race is too close to call, we have many good teams in the mix, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, ourselves and then there are Everton who just refuse to slip up and Tottenham have a lot in reserve if they change the manager. Let's not jinx anything by writing United off either.
We are doing marvellously well to stay in the conversation (
) until Christmas and hopefully we'll still be talked about at easter. BUT, we need to get the transfers right. As it is, we are ****ing up on the transfer front and we need to get the right players in, a midfielder, left back and an attacker who can play the Rodgers' way.

Definitely. I still don't see us as title contenders. even a bit worried about complacency in the Cardiff game. I'm waiting to see us string a few clean sheets together, and strengthen our midfield. We need two, an all around CM, and a creative force. Striker/LB could also be looked at. Our squad just isn't as deep as the other three teams right now, and that's crucial for building the consistency necessary to win a title.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI'm not sure Chelsea have the best manager tbh, they also have a very good squad with excellent attacking players and a good depth.

i'm still not thinking about being in the title race. Just want us to take each games as it comes and keep picking up points.
Spurs win was massive, but it means **** all if we don't beat Cardiff on Saturday.
Can't believe how tight it is this year. The big worry for me is Everton....they've got 5 winnable games coming up whilst all the teams at the top play each other. They could be in a very interesting position when the next derby comes along in Jan.
I still stick with my pre-season predication....keep our key players fit and playing regularly/in as many of the league games as possible and we have a good chance of top 4.
if we can beat cardiff and get something - even just a point from chelsea/city - then we will be in a decent position on January 1st. If we can do that, and then in January keep Suarez, add couple of top players to give us a boost and quality cover, get enrique/gerrard/sturridge back fit....and push on. Then i might, slowly have a little outside think about it.
The big thing for us will be the fact we would have played arguably 5 of our 6 hardest games - (Ars/Che/Eve/City/Spurs away) all done and dusted.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

As optimistic as I generally am, I still can't quite imagine that we have enough to win the league. The January window could be crucial to a sustained challenge if we spend well. We do have the advantage of no other distractions unlike the other teams (although we obviously want a good FA Cup run).
I'll be over the moon with 4th place to be honest. Anything more than it would be simply amazing.

I think City are beatable the defence looks shaky and their keeper Pantilmon is not very good. Aguero is a huge loss for them as he seems to set the tone for their wins
Not sure if have enough to win the league but get a win at either City or Chelsea puts us in a great place with City , Chelsea , Spurs and Arsenal all having to come to Anfield."All I'll ever do is all I've ever done in any job, and that's promise to fight for my life for the supporters and the people of the city"

5/7 for me, I think United away will be a tough game as well, and they might even be stronger in the second part of the season. I'm not writing them off yet.Originally posted by PTP View Post

But while on the subject, we now have four points out of the Ars/Che/Eve/City/Spurs away mix - The draw against Everton is putting a little dampener on the run for me, how many did we get last season?* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Yep. And not just that. The way we're playing, steamrollering teams....players will want a piece of it, they'll want to play with Suarez. It's gonna be pretty interesting.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostIn terms of the January window, being this far up the league should be a huge benefit to us in terms of attracting new players.

- 5 of our 6 hardest away games have been played (city/chelsea/spurs/everton/arsenal) - meaning the 6th....would be United away

it'll be interesting - surely the owners as well, will think - right...we've got ourselves into a position...this a chance, right now, right here, to go that extra mile...Originally posted by Shaggy View PostYep. too often for me, LFC have not took that gamble, that extra yard, to have a real go....i've likened it before on here to a previous place I worked.
We had 3 Sales managers on the road even though from the start we always knew we needed 5. We were coming up just short of the target every month. The MD wasn't prepared to gamble and hire the two extra sales staff, that if successful, meant we would smash the target......his philosophy was....when these 3 guys get us over the line....then i'll invest in the two extra guys
Problem was, it was never going to happen...the 3 guys busted their guts for 10 months of the year, before running out of steam, and then one bad month or two, and that was it...we got caught short and completely ****ed it up and fell well short of the target.
That's how i feel with LFC for god knows how long. it would be great, if just for once, we've got ourselves into this position, and we somehow went that extra mile and signed two or three players in january giving us that boost and added quality to kick oni own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

to be fair - there is that worry that a new signing, could unbalance/upset the side.
Until yesterday i was convinced we needed a left back, centre mid and forward.
The performances of Flanagan and Allen, with Enrique/Gerrard to come back has made me think do we?
but i'm not going to let it cloud me...we defo do need those extra two/three players. We are a bit thread bare - another injury/suspension to a full back or centre mid right now would be a real nightmare.
If needs be - send Cissokho and Moses back if we want to make room in the squad.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Our owners certainly aren't scared to spend in the Jan window, and they aren't scared of a bit of creative accounting to move cash between windows.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostWonder if there's a case for spending our summer budget in January? Chances like this don't come along too often. We are in with a shout of the title - push on and spend well in January and who knows where it could take us.
Also not to forget we still have some of last summers budget left, we went after a few targets we missed out on.
So I'd say chances are pretty good, it depends mainly on who's available.
