We're in a great position now to attract some excellent players. Let's not waste this opportunity.
i know - i'm a cunt for it - especially as i one who defend the likes of Henderson and Sterling to the hilt and get so wound up by people writing them off.

However in my defence, even in their worst performances, i could see something in the pair of them, plus they are still youngsters with time on their side and potential.

Aspas, had never done anything in his life, never showed any promise, and just had one decent season in a ****e Celta Vigo side and at 26 should be hitting his peak/estabilshed pro. PLus we were told he was meant to be a bit of a mad man, nutter who would run round causing headaches. But whenever i've seen him, he justs looks like a competition winner pulled out of a hat and given a contract.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Side note here, but I wanted to discuss the importance of goal difference. Most would probably dismiss it but I personally see it as a big indicator of how good a side is. If you order the top of the league by goal difference I often think you get a good feel for who the best teams in the league are. Here's how it would be this season so far:

      1) Man City +29
      2) Liverpool +21
      3) Arsenal +16
      4) Chelsea +14
      5) Everton +12

To be honest I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's how it finishes this season.

I think that would certainly keep us safe from rival PL teams, not so sure if Real Madrid or the like come calling though.

I'm estimating that our net spend in the summer was approximately £20million after looking at a few of the figures.

I reckon we could have about £15million to spend in the window at a push. Whether that'd be enough to make a push in terms of strengthening two positions or one, I'm not too sure.

As Shaggy is hinting though, if the right player became available, I'd like to think we'd spend a bit more, possibly by spending some of our summer budget early. Chances like this don't come along often and we have to seize it with both hands.

I think we can chalk off left back as a major priority in January, we are adequate there now with JF more than coping while deputising for JE. Cissokho should be sent back if possible.

Right back is a growing concern, there's just not enough competition for GJ with Kelly being so fragile. I'd consider a marquee signing there and then wait for the summer. It's working well with Suarez on his own, DS will be good back up when he regains fitness. Save the pennies for improving Suarez's current deal and bring back a matured Suso to add to the midfield choices. He alone will be like a new £10m signing and by the end of next season will be a £20m player.

If the money is available go out in Jan and get some like Drexler real signal of intent to the rest of the league and should help in convincing Luis to stay

Title aside its vital to spend to get into the CL again, and the higher the league finish the higher the % and I think its quite a disparity between finishing 1st to 4th. Then to cement that CL spot before the BT money comes into play. Feels like weve got a massive second chance to get back amongst it.

Do we need Mata though? Who would he replace? We have Alberto who could play the Coutihno role, so I'm highly dubious we'll go for him. We need another midfielder as a priority and possibly both a left and a right back. That's it.
                          Are we winning?

Alberto looks like he could have potential to fulfill that role, But Mata is genuine proven quality and should be a no brainer if we had the money, We have an outside chance of winning the league and Mata would enhance that chance for sure.

Problem is that I am sure he would only come if we are in a similar position to the one we are in now, And if we are then Chelsea would never sell.

mata would play as the 10 behind suarez with coutinho going wide left.
mata isnt just a creative player, he is a great goal threat too.
i would also want us to add a decent midfielder and a rb/lb.

need to ship out cissoko, moses.

maybe also consider johnson and enrique for irregular form, kelly for glassnessness.

Drexler and van der Wiel would be pretty good.
